Guest guest
Hi Guys, God help those affected by the tragidy today. I am at work and due to loss of motivation to work, and clients not calling, I would like to post my 5th photoderm experience. I went for it yesterday. So far, my doctor has been doing a combination of 550, and 570. I thought we really got a good hit on number 4, but I was still having severe flushing that lasted hours. These severe ones are not from a trigger that I am aware of just hot, red, painful. I am being treated by a Dr. Bitter Jr trained doctor, which I did not think mattered until today. I heard that Jr trained physicians stick with the lower levels (550, 570), then say, well that is the best we can expect. Still, I kept an open mind because I like my doc, and he has really gotten me some improvement, and some hope for normalcy. My 5th photoderm was yesterday. He sat down with me to discuss what our next steps will be (first time he has really done this). I said, I am still having severe flushing. His opinion was we can try a few more things (however we may have hit a plateau), such as: 1) induce a deeper flush, then treat (I think with the same filter 570) 2) skip the elamax numbing cream, and treat (using the same filter 570) 3) try the 590 (This seemed to be a rare option). 4) try laser (I am assuming he means YAG). I said, well, I really think the numbing cream is affecting my improvement. It makes my skin cold and white, and although we are able to induce a flush from scrubbing with alcohol, I think a real deep flush is needed, and the numbing cream may be preventing this. I am willing to try his ideas, but I am concerned that he does not have the expertise to go to higher levels (590, 645) if needed. I have read the posts, and Dr. Nase's book, and I know that is the route I want to go, higher filters. But my doc does not seem to have the experience with it. He has, at the most, given a patient 6 treatments. And from what it sounds, like I said, he has not done alot of the 590. 645 was not even mentioned. I plan to send him my documentation on the higher filters, but I am wondering how safe I feel at this point. I like him a lot, and he seems trustworthy, and safe. By the way, if we skip the numbing cream (which makes me want to cry), he said he would have me take Percocet, (codeine) nastalgic. Not sure how excited I am to take a potent drug to numb the pain. And I have not heard any of you offered this route by your doctors?! I am not sure if I need to seek out another doctor. I feel like I would be starting over....and I am TIRED! Guest guest
Hi Deirdre, Don't cry, and don't skip the elamax. That's just frightening. I can't imagine going without elamax. In fact I asked my nurse about painkillers to go along with it, and she said I could try Tylenol but not to take aspirin or Advil. His reasoning for not using elamax must be because it can make you pale - doesn't he use that cream (sorry I forget the name) to induce a flush? It works great even with the elamax. You'll be red as a lobster. I learned something interesting. I had my 4th treatment recently, 590 filter and 3.5 duration (this was more painful than previous 3, which had been at 550 and 570.) and followed her instructions (and Dr. Bitter's), and went 24 hours before doing anything that would cause a flush. After 24 hours, I was actually showing noticeable improvement. That's when I exercised, AND got invited to a party. At the party I had several beers (how many? No comment I drank enough to cause a flush, and an alcohol flush can last several hours. The next day, and for the next month afterward, I was as red as I was before the 3rd treatment. It got a little better at 4-6 weeks, but still not as good as before #4. This is the one I came on here and whined about. Then I read some people here had much better luck going 1 to 2 weeks without exercising. At my appointment for #5, I explained what happened and she was very interested. She gave me a free treatment, I would have preferred two but I'm not complaining. For treatment #5 we did the #3 settings over again (570), and this time I'm not doing any exercising for two weeks. It's been 5 days and I'm seeing better results than I did at this point after the 3rd treatment, and I'm convinced that the bad results from #4 were caused by flushing too soon also. I'm just trying to avoid heat, which is a big trigger for me. I would recommend that everyone not follow Dr. Bitter or his students' instructions when they tell you it's a 24 hour recovery time. You definitely need at least a week. My nurse is now telling all her patients to go two weeks after hearing my experience. > Hi Guys, > God help those affected by the tragidy today. > > I am at work and due to loss of motivation to work, and clients not > calling, I would like to post my 5th photoderm experience. > > I went for it yesterday.
