It sure sounds great I am paying for a separate phone line. How does this

cost compare to the DSL? thanks for your info. I sure hope all is well .

what is dsl...

DSL is not sattelite...it's " Digital Subscriber Line " and comes through your

phone line. But it doesn't tie up the line...you can still get phone calls.

It's also about 10 times faster that a 56K modem. We've had it for over a

year, now...and I'm NEVER going back!!

Hey Bev, I can tell you in this area, through Bell South, the DSL costs

$45 a month if you have the call waiting/caller ID package on your

phone, and $50 a month if you don't. You don't have to pay any

additional ISP costs. (You don't have to pay anyone else to connect you

to the Net, no need for Earthlink or AOL or whoever...the $50/month does

it all.)

It is SUPER fast, and I love it! We also got a router and networked our

two computers, so we have DSL on both of them.

Oops, I forgot to mention there is an initial set up cost of $100-200 or

so. They will come and set everything up for you. Then, it's super easy,

you are *always* connected to the Internet. No dialing in, ever!

Bev, DSL can, if as in our area, most telephones are NOT

connected through fiberoptic cable, but the television IS,

that cable setup, already in place, can be used and may

(no guarantees) reduce the cost as a cable system does

not have to be installed--again. If I were wealthy, however, I

would have at least T-1 where wone is connected to the inter

net all the time, or T-3, whereby one is connected to the internet and the web

all the time--but then I don't see myself

winning the state lottery any time soon--I mean one does have to at last BUY the

tickets! Good luck. Most corporations have at least DSL, though!

n, wishfully
