Hi,

saw this on another list.

" " I have recently started an account with a pharmacy in Canada.

Go to this site and see if it will be useful to you =)

http://www.canadameds.com/

I have found many meds cheaper then my copay and for drugs my

insurance refuses to allow the cost is so much better. You just

fill out the paperwork and send hard copies of prescriptions to them

and your in =) (The paperwork is downloaded to you. It is fairly

brief and easy to do) " "

Peace

Hi Torsten and all,

As a Canadian and regular at the pharmacy, I thought I'd share my

tidbit of knowledge with you. Yes, generally speaking prescription

drugs cost less in Canada :)!! And a real advantage when the

Canadian dollar is only worth $0.66 US, so the exchange rate helps as

well. For the prescriptions to be filled, the prescription needs to

be either from a Canadian physician, or endorsed by a Canadian

physician. So, you would have to see a Canadian doctor to have the

prescription transcribled or endorsed what ever the case may be. I

live in Windsor, which is a border town with Detroit, MI so we have

many pharmacies that set this service up for people. If anyone is

interested I can forward the numbers. You also have to be cautious

about going back through customs as you will still have to declare

all purchases for duty and excise taxes. It is still worth it for

some things as we have busloads of people coming from all over the US

Torsten,

Thanks for reminding me! I got the addy from TV and downloaded forms but

have forgotten all about them!

I was wondering if it really did have better prices. Now I know I better get

mine filled out and sent back to them!

Thanks for sharing the info.

Hi, if a prescription is NOT manufactured nor prescribed in

the united states, then things are easier, and the pharmacy

can fill it on one's one medical doctor's recommendation. I

did this with the arthritis med. Synvisc for years before it be

gan to be manufactured here and I had to go with getting it

hear. I got it this way from the province of Ontario, who wal

ked it across the border and mailed it to me in the us--whether I was in

Michigan, Oregon or California. Now, Winnipeg is not exactly within walking

distance of the bor

der, which obviously makes a big difference, which I noticed

on the Canadian website. And now, IF the med is manufac

tured and prescribed in the us, I must get it filled within the

state of which I am a resident. Period. At least in California.

Thank you for your comments; very helpful,

Just wanted to throw in that not all meds are cheaper in Canada. For

instance, the Canadian site mentioned charges US$28.68 for a bottle

of ADEKs, whereas the CF Services Pharmacy charges only US$21.95 for

the same thing. Pancrease is also more expensive on the Canadian

site. Plus the Canadian site charges US$13 for shipping, and CF

Services does not charge a shipping fee, and I don't think Grandma

Bev's pharmacy charges shipping, either.

For the CF Services price list, see

http://www.cfservicespharmacy.com/about_cf_services/price_list/

or go to

http://www.cfservicespharmacy.com/

and click on " Price List " in the left-hand column.

I'm sure there are other Canadian pharmacies that charge lower prices

for medication, just as Mexican pharmacies charge less than U.S.

pharmacies (and my understanding is that a prescription is not

required in Mexico.) For those without insurance coverage or very

high co-payments and deductibles, it would definately pay to shop

around.

Bev,

I used the pharmacy to purchase Traci meds but then found out because it is

not in our system they were being charged to our major medical against her

insurance cap. We have RX coverage so it wasn't a matter of cost. I liked

getting the ADEKs. Now our clinic is giving us free bottles when we go visit

and that helps. Lynette
