Guest guest
Joy, I'll keep you in my prayers that everything from your apt. to your surgery goes well for you and that you have a quick recovery. Take Care, Louie in WV Can I make it? Hi all you wonderful people! I just thought I would start trying to keep you updated on things that are finally happening. Geez, it has been such a struggle to go in a forward motion. Even though I do not have an official diagnosis yet, some things are going good or at least forward. I went to see a shrink yesterday. Didn't like him at first, I thought, he is wasting my time and his. I am still holding out to see what happens with him, but he does know about chronic pain. He has suggested that I start with a group that is all chronic pain sufferers for one reason or the other. So I start that on Tues. next week and go every Tues. Thurs. next week I FINALLY have an appt. with a GI. The internal medicine doc I went to that evaluated me for my surgery said the GI dept. at Beaumont Army hospital was pretty good and that the only problem was they were swamped with pancreatitis patients lately. Something in the water here? Here's praying they know enough to help or at least direct me to help. And I will be begging them for an alternative to no pain meds for 7 days prior to surgery. Strange, I saw the surgeon yesterday and he refilled my prescp for pain meds and didn't say a word about not taking it before surgery. Oh well, we'll see. Then the following Monday,May 6, I go in to sign the paperwork for my hysterectomy. That will be on Friday, May 10. If anyone has been through a hysterectomy while have cp, I sure would like to talk to you. If you want e-mail me your phone # @ jkilgore@... and I will gladly call you. I am really worried that while taking care of one problem the cp will flair up and just knock me for a loop and maybe there is something I can do to head any problems off. Then there is appx. 6 weeks of recovery. I have been pretty sick this week because I started my cycle (for the last time) and it really makes me hurt and nauseous for the whole time. Anyway, since I finally have something to say about my struggle, I just wanted to let anyone new or old that because of all of you, I have been more patient and persistent than I normally would have been and it looks like it is starting to pay off. Keep me in your thoughts and I pray that I can make all of these appts. in the next two weeks and don't get sicker. :-) God bless each and everyone of you and I thank God for giving me you! Guest guest
Joy, I hope the pain management goes well. I also found one that takes care of my meds and has a 10 week class to help find alternate ways of controlling and dealing with chronic pain. It is going well. I hope that your surgery goes well and that they find some way of allowing you pain meds before the surgery. Keep us posted. Kimber -- Kimber hominid2@... Guest guest
Thank you Kimber, May I ask you a question about your pain management? Is it a psychiatrist leading it? I have only been to one session, but it seemed rather odd to me. The dr. has a group of 17 women in chronic pain and all we did was talk about the pain and how to be more assertive. I also thought that a psychiatrist doesn't push his own values on his patients, but it sure seemed to me he was. He was always talking down about men. I got the feeling that he had his " harem " and wanted to keep other out. I am probably paranoid but this just seemed really odd to me. I finally go to a GI today maybe he can give me some insight. Is your PM like that at all? Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful day, Joy Re: Can I make it? Joy, I hope the pain management goes well.
