I've Had It

Hey Everyone,

I've absolutely had it with my doctor. I have been having pretty bad

pain around my navel in the past few weeks. I'm sure it's something

related to my surgery. We'll my GI decided that it was either an

abdomonal wall tear, weakness or strain which makes sense to me. He

told me to keep taking vicodin and to call if I didn't see an

improvement within a few weeks.

Well I ran out of vicodin so I made an appointment to see my doctor.

He told me that he didn't feel comfortable writing a script because

he thinks I have a substance abuse problem. He said I've

demonstrated drug-seeking activity. So, I asked him what this

activity is. He says well you are in the emergency room excessively

and I have had ER dr's from two hospitals call me. Well duh, I've

been in the ER a lot because of non-stop vomiting and unrelenting

pain from a tumor on my pancreas. I have only been in the ER two

times since my surgery and one time was for pneumonia, and the only

reason I was at the other hospitals ER was because the script for

pain medication that my surgeon wrote me was lost in the mail room at

Mayo's so my surgeon told me to go to the ER and have the doctor

there write me a script since he couldn't phone one in. I went to

that ER because it was the closest one to my parents house where I

was staying while I was recouperating. Why would I drive another 20

miles out of my way when it already takes 30 minutes to get to that

ER?

My doctor is a third year family practice resident who thinks he

knows everything. I should have found a new doctor when all of this

stuff started happening, but I'm young and I guess I don't know any

better. He has disagreed with specialists on two occasions. He

refused to believe that the mass on my pancreas was anything other

then a psuedocyst even when a well known GI doctor said it was a

cystic tumor and when my GI here said that my pain was something

muscular he says that it's endemetriosis. Who the hell does he think

he is? What makes him think he can go agaisnt the diagnosis of a

specialist when he has told me before that he couldn't! I talked to

his faculty doctor immediately after my appointment and he gave me a

script for some vicodin with no problem.

I'm just at my wits end. I'm 22 years old and I feel like I'm 80.

Why can't they take care of me! I was supposed to go back to school

today but I decided not to because my pain is still pretty bad and my

pneumonia has not cleared up. There is a summer session that starts

in mid-June and it's my goal to be well to go then. I wish these

assholes would get off their posterior end and do something for me.

I guess it's off to Mayo's if this isn't taken care of soon.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Angel
