I hope you'll having a pain-free day. I keep you in my prayers.

jang's dog, updates

Hi everyone. I've been away for the past 10 days & am trying to catch

up on email. I've missed you guys!

Thanks to those who expressed your concern for my dog, Rufus.

Unfortunately, he had to be euthanized Wednesday, April 17. His

weakness & shortness of breath were increasing to the point that he

was unable to sleep or eat well. We did what I wish someone could do

for me when the time comes. Rufus did peacefully at the vet's, his

head in my lap while my daughter (his first owner) caressed his head.

Our house is very empty without him, but this was the right thing for

us to do.

Terry, Mark, Larry, others - I hope you are feeling better. Terry, it

was great to hear that you had good treatment at the hospital this

time. Let's hope this is the start of a string of good events.

Hoping for comfortable days for all,

jang

Dear Jang,

That was very generous and kind of you to do for Rufus what he needed for you

to do for him. I know he was/is thankful and appreciates the incredible love

that you have (and showed) for him.

Thank you for your warm wishes also at this difficult time. You are quite a

person. And I know that you now have one more angel.

May the Gods continue to bless, protect and smile upon you.

Peace & Love,

Terry

Jang,

I am so sorry about your losing Rufus. But he is better now

where he is. My mother and I lost the oldest cat, Cuddles

about a month or so ago, so I know how much you must miss

him.

Hope your pain is not causing too much trouble.

Jang,

Thanks for sharing your story with Rufus. I am glad that you let your

daughter be with you. Of course, I don't know how old she is. I am thinking

she is a little girl, but somehow I think she is older. At any rate, I am

glad she was there with you.

When I was 18 my parents went to Rome for a year where my father took a

sabbatical at the University. I responsible for our family dog, Senority. She

came to live at my house. I don't remember how old she was, but I do know we

played together when I was a little girl. During my parents' absence she

became ill, weak; she looked generally tired. Our vet, knowing Senorita for

several years, did the best he could to help me with the decision to

euthanize my beloved pet. As I sat there, holding her head in my lap, it

wasn't the vet that helped me make that decision at all; there was that

certain moment, where her round, brown eyes looked into mine, that I had no

doubt that she was aware of the situation and asked me to do the only humane

act I could do. I'll never forget that. During the short minutes of the

infusion, I closed my eyes, rubbed her floppy ears, and had passing thoughts

of her life ...running in the park, catching the frisbee, running through the

house shaking her fur after her tub baths, hiding behind the couch gnawing on

a bone she had confiscated, tossing her head back and forth as she struggled

to wear the cowboy hat and saddle I used to dress her in, and a memory that

has lasted forever, her tail wagging, ears up, and I know it was a smile, as

she greeted me when I came home everyday.

Jang, we do treat our pets better than many our dying elderly and terminally

ill.

Jang,

I am so sorry about your dog. I had to put my best friend, Henrietta, down last

August, she was 17 and had been with me 16 1/2 yrs. She had a stroke. I sure

do miss her. But the good news is, 3 weeks ago I got two more dogs. They are

already 5 yrs old, but I know that we were meant to be together. There is an

org. here called Pet Angels and they save animals from the shelter and pound

that are going to be put down and find them homes no matter how long it takes.

I decided I would, in honor of Henri, go get one from somewhere that other

people were trying to help other animals. I know Henri helped me through many

hard times, now maybe I can return the favor. God bless you and I hope that

after you are finished grieving you can find a new friend.
