Can anyone be of any help? PLEASE!!!! My surgery is scheduled for

next week, May 17. I talked to Dr. R. yesterday and now Dr. R. is

sayinh I may not be able to have the surgery because of a recent

arthritis flare-up I have had with some recent treatment. I need

some help please!!!

Has anyone been treated for rheamatoid arthritis after having the MGB

surgery? If so, what medications seem to work?

Dr. R. has said that my new stomach created with the surgery cannot

tolerate many medications that I may have to take for arthritis and

to get a list of medications from my doctor and get back with him.

However, my arthritis doctor is out of town for 2 weeks and his staff

have all said there is nothing they can (or will) do for me and I

have to wait until the doctor returns (which will be long after my

scheduled surgery date).

I called to get a 2nd opinion (new doctor) and they just called back

to say I can't get in for 6 to 8 weeks to see him, they won't give me

any answers or help until or unless I am seen in person.

I am devastated. I know there must be an answer. There must be some

medications that I can take after surgery, if necessary. Can someone

please help me or guide me to where I might find answers.

THANK YOU!

DEE

Dee, has your doctor discussed Arava (leflunomide) with you? I didn't see

any indications of possible ulcer disease in the PDR. Perhaps you could

visit arava.com and see if it is something that could work for you. It's a

one pill a day thing, perhaps it is something you could take after surgery?
