Guest guest
Keep in mind that 100 mg would be the appropriate starting dose for someone weighing 800 lbs, max dose for someone weighing 200 lbs. I bet they don't mention that it should not be taken by individuals with mercury amalgam dental fillings. They probably also base info on those taking is insufficiently frequently. S S Re: DMSA Question Posted by: " TJ Werth " tj_werth@... tj_werth Tue Feb 17, 2009 2:32 pm (PST) Here is what is stated by Thorne Research for the taking if 100mg capsules: A patient with chronic heavy metal toxicity may experience a worsening of symptoms at the onset of supplementation. Small increases in the excreation of zinc, copper, and manganese may occur with DMSA administration. ------------------------------------------------------------ Adult Education Get educated. Guest guest
Thanks so much Jan~ ryansmom ________________________________ From: Jan <mercurybabies2@...> Sent: Tuesday, February 17, 2009 4:21:16 PM Subject: [ ] Re: DMSA Question Using Andy's low dose protocol can slowly remove those metals without the problems you saw with high dose DAN protocols. You can use ala only if you do not feel comfortable with the dmsa. I have been using low dose AC protocol of dmsa/ala for almost three years. We also give the vitamins and minerals recommended for the protocol, and gut support via probiotics and antifungals when needed. We use very low oral doses to begin with, see how the child does. Those doses can be lowered even further if there are side effects. It can also be stopped immediately if there were any problems...though we have not seen any ourselves. And rarely do we get reports of them on here. The side effects reported are usually caused by yeast or lack of supplements. Not the dmsa itself. It really helps to learn about low dose and understand the chelators, why they are given this way, the supplements and why those are given..etc.. .the knowledge helps take the fear out of it. AGain, you can use alpha lipoic acid only, this is an antioxidant that will remove some metals, and will take mercury from the brain. It is an over the counter antioxidant. ..still need to dose it safely though...which is in the protocol. If you have a child who has a lot of Lead, then you may need to consider the dmsa too. > > From: Stacee <staceedsbcglobal (DOT) net> > Subject: Re: [ ] DMSA Question > > Date: Tuesday, February 17, 2009, 4:49 PM > > Hi , > how do you give the DMSA? Guest guest
Yep I have a 13 yr old who has been doing this since 11 yrs. Also my 6 yr old. Guest guest
I've been crying all afternoon Jan, I never knew about ANY of this until very recently...................I took my son to a very expensive, well known DAN Doctor and through blood and urine tests it was show that had very high mercury and some elevated lead toxicity. I pulled out the paper work from that DAN doc from 04' and she had me giving my terribly sick child 250mg DMSA 3Xday 3 days on 11 days off for 4 cycles. ...........I can't believe it. I can't stop crying My dear son was in a diaper for 8 MONTHS straight at the end of this " treament " ..........tears...................I've spent the last 6 years doing everything, herbs, homeopathics, and everything in between to try and help my son. I'm so glad I found this group. Everyone has given up on my son, his dad decided 5 years ago he didn't want him in his life anymore so I've been doing this myself. I hope Andy's protocol will help my boy............I hope it's not to late. Guest guest
Thanks so much TJ, with my Dads help, I'm getting some DMSA from VRP tommorrow. My guy is 94.4 pounds and 13 years old. I'll chelate on the weekends 1/8-1/2 of a gram per 1lb of body weight every 4 hrs. so that works out to be between 11.8gram-47.2grams.....low and slow.......it's always the best method. Any pointers or tips anyone can offer to a newbie like myself is SO apprecited~ Has anyone seen greater benefit to adding equal the amounts of ALA, does anyone have a thought on ALA vs ®Lipoic Acid which is more active?? Does anyone addVit C to the regime to support the body during this protocol?? I have excellent Vit/Min on board as I under standard this process can be minerally depleting. You guys are great~ warmly, ryansmom ________________________________ From: TJ Werth <tj_werth@...> Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2009 7:26:48 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: DMSA Question Still plenty of DMSA out there, don't give up. Guest guest
1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound. I'm sure that's what you meant. It's best to do DMSA alone at least for 8-10 cycles to lower the body burden of metals before adding ALA. The reasoning behind this is to make sure the level of metals in the body is lower than in the brain before adding ALA. ALA crosses the blood/brain barrier and could possibly move metals into the brain if they were higher in the body. Andy's book states " a couple of months " , that's whay I say 8-10 weeks. Some other folks here might have more information. Guest guest
We did it for a while before we found the AC protocol. I don't believe it is as safe and could cause re-distribution. It is suppose to be better for lead according to DAN!, but I think you would need to have pretty high levels of lead to justify it. DMSA will chelate lead as well. I know it is tempting to try to get the quick fix, but I don't believe it is out there. If you want the big bang, are you on a GFCF diet? This was the biggest, most noticeable change for us in the beginning. Fish oil? Supplements? Guest guest
thanks so much for sharing TJ, I know there's no quick fix and I sooooooooooo glad to have found this community. My boy is metal toxic, mostly mercury. There Lead and others as well, I have him on excellent liquid vitamins, fish oil, probiotics, liver life, he is also dairy-free, I had him screened for wheat allergy and it showed that he's not allergic to it. I'm just so glad to finally get on the right track here, because it seems as long as the metals are in there, one will literally chase symptoms indefinetly..........it's very sad God Bless Andy Cutler................. ________________________________ From: TJ Werth <tj_werth@...> Sent: Friday, February 20, 2009 9:21:18 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: DMSA Question We did it for a while before we found the AC protocol. The DAN Doc had me giving the DMSA for 3 days that 11 days off for " 1 cycle " , does that sound right? I plan to do this on the weekends as my sweetie is in school during the week. ~I just want to tell everyone how amazing you all are. My guy is 94.4 pounds and 13 years old. I'll chelate on the weekends 1/8-1/2 of a gram per 1lb of body weight every 4 hrs. so that works out to be between 11.8gram-47. 2grams... ..low and slow.......it' s always the best method. Guest guest
Gluten intolerance does not show up when testing for wheat allergy. What kind of test did you have done? S S Re: DMSA Question Posted by: " Stacee " staceed@... staceed@... Fri Feb 20, 2009 9:51 am (PST) thanks so much for sharing TJ, I know there's no quick fix and I sooooooooooo glad to have found this community. ------------------------------------------------------------ Free Kitchen Remodel Bids Find top-rated kitchen contractors.
