Marilyn, not that I know of. I know that they always run a sed rate and CRP,

but these aren't even conclusive. To Rita, if you know what test it was that

they ran can you share it with us. Even my ear biopsy was inconclusive and

the dx by symptoms.

I had ear biopsy which said it was Chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis. I

figure if the word ends in titis its associated. Also said tissue shows

diffuse non-specific chronic inflammation.. Next wednesday I get the skin

biopsied....lucky me...Sue

I am not sure the name of the test. He wants to do a

Sue,

Do you need to wait until the ear is inflamed to to

the biopsy. We are waiting - should we?

Marilyn, I was in the middle of a flare when they did an ear buipsy. Coupled

with that, I also had Iritis. Nobody had any doubt! Unfortunately!

Sue, I wish I could tell you about something that will help. Are you

flaring? If you are, they'll get a better result. Fortunately or

unfortinately I was in a major flare, and already dx with Iritis. So between

the symptoms and the results, there wasn't much doubt. The biopsy is not

painful when the do it (too numb), you only feel the pressure. It';s when

the meds wear off that it hurts. But hey, I survived it and I am a woos, so

you'll be fine! Good luck and love, Judy

Hi

I have been taking paxil for some time now. Even with the

anti-depressant I don't all the sudden have the energy to do what needs

to be done in my day. I deal with fibro-fog on a consistant basis and I

can understand what your co-worker is saying about missing that spark.

Because I am so tired and lacking energy the spark is missing but I'm

not sure if it just isn't part of having fibro. I look for the moments

in the day that bring me joy. I try not to expect the world from

myself. I sometimes think that there are so many people out there ready

to diagnose me or have some miracle vitamin that I should take to cure

me. What I'd really like to say to them is why don't you come to my

house and clean while I take a nap. Now that would really help me.

Take care

Kathy

o, my question is, to those of you who are taking anti-depressants,

have you found that they make you happy, or just not depressed? Did

you rediscover some joy in living? If so, I think maybe I will ask

for some anti-depressants when I go for my appointment at the pain

clinic in a few weeks.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for all your help.

Take care,

I don't take anti-depressants cause they make me happy. I don't think any

medication can make people happy. I take nortriptilyne (sp?). It helps me

sleep at night and that is a huge help. They also seem to take the edge off

of my gloom. I'm happier now because I'm sleeping at night. And because I

have more energy now.

Hello !!!

I totally understand how you feel. i feel the same way. I always say I am

not depressed, just pissed! I always wanted my doctors to fix the problems.

Now, for me I have to tell you I was not taking anything for a few years.

Now I have a much better understanding of anti-depressants. Selective

Seratonin Reuptake inhibitors, like Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, give the brain

more seratonin, the chemical that does control moods as far as I know. There

is a lot more to the chemistry, sorry, I don't remember it all. So, I had a

concussion, maybe brain injury, and often that (and also plenty of other

things, like pain) can cause the brain the use up the seratonin too fast, or

maybe there is just not enough being made, so when you're out, the mood

swings down.

I don't feel severely depressed all the time. I am angry, frustrated, and

want to get stuff done, not be in pain, I am sure you all know what I mean.

Any of these feelings, not matter how much, can interfere with healing and

feeling the best you can. Everything is connected, pain, stress, anxiety,

fatigue, depression.

I am taking Prozac right now, and it does not change how I feel. I am not

blissfully happy all the sudden. But it does help. I need more patience,

and I need to relax, slow down, settle down. I push myself, then I'm in

pain, then I am dissapointed, then my muscles are tight, then I have more

pain, then I get more frustrated, then I can't relax. I was so stressed that

my doctor, who is great, but not touchy-feely, told me he wants me to see a

neurologist and relax before any more treatment with him.

Injections helped me a lot, but then I got stressed and it got worse.

I use the Prozac to help my brain be more balanced. I don't feel any major

changes in me, or in my behavior. The Prozac does not do anything stange, I

feel totally like myself. But a better, calmer self. My boss commented this

week this week that he could see how much I did better the last couple of

weeks. He knows that I am working on my patience, and he noticed!!

Also I am proud of myself that the other day I did not argue with my husband.

I made my point and told him now is not the time to discuss this. I ended a

fight. I never did this before. This sounds bad, I am not that bad of a

person, really :-), but I tend to argue my point until the other person

understands. (Yeah right) I always thought " he doesn't get what I'm

saying, I need to say it again, differently " .

The " fight " topic resolved itself by now. I know if I would have continued

it would have escalated. I DID THE RIGHT THING, imagine that.

I would say take advantage of any little advantage there is, no matter how.

Taking Prozac will result in me having less stress, and less pain. I got

there in a round-about way, but all the symptoms are in a vicious cycle and

everything is connected.

Also, I will get more and better specialized treatment for specific things,

if I can now say that the fatigue does not come from depression. Because I

tried it!! Because I am taking Prozac.

I am also in Biofeedback counseling and cognative therapy right now. I am

thrilled to get this help and to have these resources. I know I promised

some material that i got, and I will still scan it everntually. I'm just

slow.

i also bought a couple of books, if I like them I'll let all you guys and

gals know!!

In summary: I am no nuts or typically depressed, but I benefit from Prozac!!

And honestly if it would be Voodoo that could help me. I would try that too.

:-)

Sorry for all the typos,

take care,
