How can he be too young at two months? Patti was

hosptialized for ivs at two months because of a raging

staph infection that was getting the better of her.

They figgured that Patti developed this due to

aspirating refluxed " stuff " . If you are

uncomfortable, get a second oppion.

I just read your post and wanted to ask you, When does a staph infection become

so bad that they need to be hospitalized? The reason I ask is because my son

, who is 5 mo. is on antibiotics right nowfor a staph infection. Just

today, I still had to suck some stuff out of his nose and he has a little bit of

a cough. Should I be concerned? Our next clinic visit isn't until Aug. 16th.

What do ya all think?

With Patti it was obvious she wasn't doing well. She

got to that won't eat, can't sleep, continous cough,

and difficulty breathing unless she was being held

upright constantly. Up until that point her lungs

always sounded clear. Two days before she was

admitted, we were at the clinic to confirm her

diagnosis and they said her lungs sounded ok, not

great, but ok. Then two days later when we went back

for the education day, her lungs were so junky

sounding that we were admitted even though there were

" no beds " in the hospital and they had to squeeze a

few kids together.

doesn't sound as bad as Patti was and I bet he

does well on the oral antibiotics.

Hi Cheryl !!! :)

I read your email and my son as well is 5 months..Jaycen..:) Anyways, he

had a staph infectoin as well. He still coughs a little now but he too is on

cheflax(antibiotic) I doubt that I spelt it right. He got it from being in the

hospital when he was a month. He has been on antibiotic now for 2 1/2 months.

I still clean his nose with sea water for infants (sea mist). I find it works

alot better than the saline drops as the h20 seems to flush it out . How bad is

his cough? You might want to go see the doctor just in case. Jaycen is doing

better now but it takes awhile.

Hi Jasmine,

I am glad to hear that Jaycen is doing better. Is this your first child? I

have never heard of that sea mist you are using. I must investigate to see if I

can get it here. Where are you from? I think I will takeyour advice and book

an appt. next week with the dr. just to be sure.

Today I was stung by a wasp and man did it hurt. I stept on it. My foot began

to swell almost immed. I took some benadryl which helped a lot but it made me

very sleepy. Then I thought, I am nursing, I hope it won't harm the baby.

Mother risk help line put my mind at ease. I also spoke to the chest dr. on

call at the hospital to be sure that would not get any of the venom from

the bee through the breast milk. I felt really paranoid but I just wanted to be

sure with him having cf, you never know. Anyway, we are both fine.

What a scare! As if a wasp sting doesnt hurt enough by itself!

But with TWO babies to think of, you were so level headed about it!

What a great mamma!!!!!

Hope the swelling is down and the sting and soreness is gone quickly!

Hi Cheryl!!! :)

Sorry, it has taken so long to get back to you. I have been very busy

as usual. I am a single parent of Jaycen(5 months wcf) Jaycen was

concieved through invitro-fertilization. My ex-husband and I seperated 1

week before christmas. I have been on a rollercoaster ride for the last 3

years. I doubt it if it will ever stop. Jaycen might have

beckwith-wiedemann syndrome as well. Just went to genetics and did

chromosome 11 and dna, ultrasounds, legs and back x-rays and a whole shit

load of blood work. Everything was measured. His right side of his body is

growing larger than his left. We won the lottery twice.:) lol

I live in Canada so I would definately think that you would be able

to get the Hydra sense nasal care baby mist. It is isotonic, sterile, 100%

natural-source sea water to clear and moisturize nasal cavities. It works

awesome on Jaycen. He hates it but it makes him breathe easier. I also

have to clean his nose with kleenex( with aloe vera) after the mist. I

have been giving it to him for a few months now. If you can't get a hold of

any, i can send you a few bottles.

I would love to know about your children :) How is your son wcf

doing? When did he get diagnosed? How much is he eating and his weight?

Take Care :) Jasmine mom to Jaycen,5 months wcf

Hi Jasmine,

Wow! Have you got a lot to deal with. How are you coping? I myself find it so

overwhelming at times and " just " has cf. You have a lot moregoing on.

Don't you wonder sometimes why these things happen?

My oldest boy is 6 years old. He is a good helper for me at times. But he can

be a handful too. He and my middle boy don't get on together so well these

days. Jake wants to do everything like his older brother but he is still just

22 months old. Zac doesn't realize it sometimes and does not set agood example

for him. He tries and I know it is hard for him. Zac was an only childfor 4

years until Jake came along so it took awhile for him to realize it's not all

about him anymore.

Jake is going thru a hitting and biting stage. He is driving me crazy. He runs

everywhere. He is into everything. HE is a VERY BUSY BOY!! But his big blue

eyes get me every time.

We are having a huge thunder storm right now and I bet he will wake up scared

any minute. That's what happened last night.

is wonderful. Touch wood , he has not presented with anything really

serious. He has the staph infection and is on antibiotics for that. That's

about it. We give enzymes at every feed. He is now eating rice cereal(give 2

enzymes with this meal) , carrots, sweet pot., squash, green beans, and peas.

He has also had peaches, banana (his fav.) and blueberries. I am still nursing

and he nurses about 4 times / day. I try to percuss him once a day. It's hard

to find the time for it, but my husband usually remembers and takes care of it.

They also gave us some mineral mix to keep his sodium levels normal . And he

gets ADEK once a day.

Did you happen to read KM's post about the sea mist? She is apprehensive about

it for fear that it could contain pseudemonias (spelling probably wrong). This

is all so new to me, I appreciate getting others opinions on these things. It's

the best way to get the info. you need.

Where in Canada are you?
