Do you drink enough water? According to my doctor one needs to drink 10

glasses of water a day and 3 spoons of natural bran to control constipation.

It works try it. from Canada

I have had the same problem here lately. My GI told me to take fiber con

pills and drink plenty of fluids. It will help with both the constipation and

the diarrhea.

I haven't tried it yet, payday isn't until Friday, so I'll have to wait a bit

longer.

-Hi ,

I have the same problem but stool softeners help me usually. When

they don't, try eating a small amount of roasted garlic (as a Chef I

always have that on hand) or make some tuna salad & use a good amount

of garlic powder. I realize that it is difficult almost impossible to

eat if having an attack but garlic does wonders for me. I don't find

the garlic tabs you get in health food stores really work that well.

A few thoughts. Instead of waiting for Dr. Lehmans' office to call your

physician, why not call Dr. lehman's office and get the scoop yourself ? I

did that several times and it cuts out the middle man so to speak. I have

the numbers to Dr. Lehman's office if you need them. The ERCP scheduling

unit is very nice. So isn't the billing/pre auth dept. Sounds like you may

want to get on the horn with them instead of losing time. Biut then I can be

a pushy broad sometimes. But getting the old broom out and riding it helps

too !!!

Darvocet or any narcotic can cause constipation. Try some milk of magnesia

if you can take it to get the current stool out of your intestines. You need

to get those bowels moving. Do you like prune juice ? Then in the meantime

take stool softeners, you can buy them over the counter. My brother in laws'

cancer doc recommeds Senecot as it is a vegatable laxative and you can take

to many of them as you will not overdose on them. They are a little

expensive but work. If you are going to continue with pain meds then take a

stool softeer like Colace every day to keep the stool soft. The Seneoct

will help it to move down faster, but the Colace will keep it soft. I would

try to take either the Milk of mag to get you cleaned out first, then try

the Colace to keep is soft. Then try the Seneoct of Colcae does not work.

That has just been my expereince with my brother in laws cancer and he takes

MAJOR narcotics. This is what has worked for him.

Hope something helps fast as being constipated hurts too !

Lily,

Thanks for the suggestions, I am going to save them

and keep them handy. I think being out of the

darvocet has helped with the constipation, but now I

have the " normal " CP problems! (Not any more fun than

the other problems but better then not going at

all...lol) I re-started the darvocet tonight, but

they aren't helping....not even a little bit. I know

I can't go back tot he ER... I have to work in the

morning, like it or not. I wish that I could though.

I have the nausea REALLY bad tonight too. I hate

this!

I hope this finds you well! I'm sending out

I had the same type problems with constipation. 2 ideas non-standard:

1: flaxseed meal in anything you can eat, or flaxseed oil

works amazingly, and adds omega 3's

2: Epson salt baths

Forget the drinking it, just a hot bath is enough for me

I hope you find something that gets you out of the cycle.
