Guest guest
- I don't know whose zinc oxide you are using, but I use zinco from Sy. It definately does NOT burn my face - as a matter of fact, it feels wonderful and lessens the redness ALOT. Maybe you should try it. You can purchase sample sizes for $2 which last a few weeks! So, no major loss if it doesn't work. Good luck. -- In rosacea-support@y..., " Valarie Newbert " wrote: > if you put an oil like jojoba on your skin, wont you attract the sun and > burn? oil and the sun dont mix? > zinc oxide > > > > What are the ingredients in ZincO? Guest guest
The folks at cea Ltd. lll recommended that I try 1-2 drops of Jojoba oil on my face before using their product because I was having problems with it. They said to have your face very wet and your hands also. Then rub the drops between your hands to spread it evenly, then apply a wet face. I followed their advice and while I still found I could not use their product (just wasn't working for me) the oil worked wonderfully for my skin. It made if very soft I have read that there are healing properties in it. Between the oil, aloe gel, and zinco cream from Sy, my face has had MUCH improvement after about 3-4 weeks. I also drink 10-12 glasses of water a day. I think it would take ALOT of oil to attract the sun (as one member was concerned about). -- In rosacea-support@y..., Loomis wrote: > I read somewhere that jojoba oil actually works as a > minor sunblock, with an SPF equivalent of around 4. > However, I've wondered the same thing. Guest guest
, You are correct. Jojoba oil is considered a natural sunscreen. I don't know what SPF rating it has and whether or not it offers broad spectrum ( UVB and UVA) coverage. It is possible that suppliers of this raw material have done the SPF tests but I can't find this in my file. However, I suspect it will have a low SPF number. Guest guest
Zinc oxide from the drugstore burns my face too. So does ZincO. That's why I buy pure zinc oxide powder and add my own oil or water right before I use it. It's the only sun protection I can find that does not burn. I was told by my dermatologist that all creams and ointments except petroleum jelly have other ingredients to preserve them. This includes zinc oxide ointment, which is not pure zinc oxide. Does anyone know what all is in ZincO? I checked the Sy site and the ingredients aren't listed. I emailed but got no reply.
Guest guest
jojoba oil has a spf of about four which does not make it a sunscreen! if you wanted to tan your legs, you would apply a factor 8 or so because the low factors attract the sun and accelerate tanning or burning as i see it.
