Guest guest
I think it may have contributed to the problem I'm having with eczema on my face and hands. I was on 3g/day for quite a few months, but have started scaling back. I'm down to 1g daily, and will continue to cut back, probably to 250 or 500mg. --- DWicke8683@... wrote: > Anyone had experience with B5 drying their skin out > at first? Guest guest
Time to ask at the counter?? Not all brands of vitamins and supplements seem to have it but it's always labeled Panothenic Acid in our area. GNC carries it and so do most of the Mom n Pop drug stores around here. Guest guest
I've noticed some of the posts about B5 and I just wanted to comment that I use a B5 serum made by SkinCeuticals. I've used it for about a year and the acne-like bumps most definitely improved. But, I cannot really say for sure that it was this product that helped because I use several topicals. The ingredients are: Water, sodium hyaluronate, pantothenic acid and phenoxyethanol. Most of the SkinCeuticals products are expensive. I spend $53.00 on the B5 / 1 fl. oz. Just my 2 pennies. Guest guest
Looks like this didn't make it to the list (darn 'reply to poster' default).... I'd just like to add my own vitamin B5 experience for anyone thinking of taking this supplement. I've never heard of anyone having such a dramatic reaction, and to such a " moderate " dose, but I think it should be kept in mind that any supplement can have side effects in susceptible people. Several months ago I started taking 2g of B5 after hearing about it on this list. I also doubled my B-50 supplement to a B-100 to help " balance " out the extra B5. I'm doubtful this was a factor in my problems though, because I'd taken a B-100 in the past without problems....I'd only decreased it because it seemed like a waste of money. Within a couple of days on B5 I noticed my face was significantly less oily, which pleased me (I later discovered much of that pesky oiliness was due to irritation from my skin care products). A week or so later I cut down to 1g after reading some anecdotes of people who had side effects, one of whom was on this list. I really didn't anticipate any problems but have always been a cautious person. Towards the end of the third week I started feeling kinda ill - tired, weak, spacey, slightly achy, with a general feeling of malaise. I became really clumsy and noticed my sensory perception seemed decreased, especially in my hands and forearms. By the end of week 4 I highly suspected the B5 to be the problem and went off it, as well as temporarily off all B-vitamins because I got paranoid they might be part of the problem. It took a week to really notice an improvement - I got worried I'd caused myself permanent neurological damage, but eventually I recovered back to my usual level of feeling lousy. I have to wonder if there was some sort of contaminant in my bottle of B5, given my unusual reaction (I used VitaminShoppe brand). Or perhaps there was an interaction between it and the medications I was on - Neurontin, Imovane, and Tylenol (since switched to Relafen). I just started 300mg of niacinamide last week, a paltry 15x the RDI, and am starting to experience the same symptoms I had on B5. It is most likely coincidence or hypervigilance on my part, but if things don't improve in the next few days I'll be quitting it to see if that helps. Maybe my body just doesn't appreciate mass quantities of B- vitamins. I'm not trying to scare anyone off trying B5, but do recommend evaluating what you put in your body should any strange new health problems crop up. Occasionally the cure is worse than the disease! Guest guest
I want to take vitamin B5 to reduce the oiliness of my facial skin. Does vitamin B5 cause flushing?
