Guest guest
Dear , I truly would call the doctor. They would know best. We had a similar experience happen to us a couple of years ago and unfortunately we had to take our daughter to the hospital. It was just to mean of a bug to be treated orally. Her pfts were down in the 60s and her weight was down at the clinic visit. The doctor sent us home to try oral antibiotics and the next day she was just miserable coughing, complaining of her chest hurting and feverish. So off she went. Since then her lung functions have been awesome. So sometimes, even though I hate hospitals, they do help things out. Take care. Guest guest
Call and/or go to the doc. Let them decide with the tools they have that you don't . That way , the worst can be is they say, you didn't need to come. BUT, that isn't likely .Most of the cf docs would rather judge that if it is so persistent. Your comfort level will feel better & he will too AND relief will be quicker. LOVE & HUGS, grandmombev Re: question/input I think my only hestitation is that the cough is not any worse. thenight time coughing is strong and he goes through some hard coughing spells. Guest guest
Hi , I know I sound like a broken record, but has your son been tested for glucose intolerance recently? Weight loss and loss of lung function happen long before diabetes shows in the normal fasting blood sugar. You have to do an oral glucose tolerance test once a year to catch CF related diabetes in its roots. Guest guest
Torsen- Seems the blood sugars are the only thing that is stable right now. Cory did have an oral glucose test and began having high blood sugars in December of last year. He has been on insulin since. His appetite is down but so are the blood sugars. He is just feeling miserable. But at the same time is 16. He doesn't want to give in to being sick. We were just at the doctors on Wednesday and it seems like the minute we left, things got worse. > Hi , > > I know I sound like a broken record, but has your son been tested for > glucose intolerance recently? We saw the Ped on Monday - he put her on Augmentin Duo Forte (1 tablet twice a day). She took one Monday night and within an hour was complaining about chest and stomach pain. I thought the Ped had overdosed her, spoke to the GP, he agreed with me, and we halved the dose. However, she has complained of chest pain every day for the rest of the week, and is really flat. However, she has no cough. I'm confused...... Going back to the doctor on Monday, which is one week of antibiotics. I'm also open for suggestions.
