In my opinion, it's always worthwhile to visit a top-notch doc/hospital with

any disease, but especially with pancreatitis. There are lots of excellent

medical centers and physicians in the mid-west. If you just go to a

" status-quo " doc they are liable to miss some important aspect of the

disease. Down the road, that can cause even more problems and complications.

BTW, could you please sign your name and state so we know who you are and

where you are lcoated?

Many of us have traveled to various parts of the country in order to

get good medical care.

The Database section of this site has names and hospital affiliations

of GI doctors who have helped several of us.

Please, as Jerry asked, tell us where you're located.

Yes, The sooner you are treated. The better the out come. I am assuming that

you are talking about the

surgical treatment of pancreatits, the pancreatectomy with auto islet cell

transplant.

The less trauma and inflammation the pancreas receives the less islet cell you

loose.
