Guest guest
Hello, My name is Tammy and I have been where your sisters is now. I have had chronic pancreatitis for 12 years now. I got pregnant in June of 1991. I was 20 weeks when I had my appendix removed. But I was still in a lot of pain and throwing up all the time, just like your sister, because I was pregnant they did not want to do any test. I told the doctor to do what test they had, that I was dying. I went for a CT Scan at 4:00am and there was a pseudocyst on the tail end of the pancreas. At 24 weeks, the doc tried to drain it with a large needle, that didn't work, so a few days later, I had drain tubes put into both of my sides to drain the fluid. But that didn't work either. I was 26 weeks when I was wheeled off to surgery. Two days later I had an emergency C-Section done. My daughter weighted 2pounds and 7 ounces. She will be 11 in December. She is healthy as a horse and is almost as big as me. She can already wear my shoes, lol. I thought that something might have been wrong with her because off all the pain meds that I was on. But she healthier than I am. There is nothing wrong with her. But I give all the praise and thanks to the Lord. Now days it is not uncommon to send patients home on IV fluids. It has to do with the insurance companies. Does her OB/GYN doc have a high risk doctor? I had to see a high risk OB/GYN doctor. You and your sister will be in my prayers. Where are you from and what is your name? If you don't mind I will put you and your family on our prayer list at church. I have already put almost everyone in this group on the prayer list. Lots of Love and Hugs, Tammy - TN

Guest guest
Tammy, Thank you so much for replying to my post. My name is Hessell, and my sister's name is Stacey Reinhardt. We both live in Michigan. My sis is home today and was waiting for the guy to come and help with the iv. I am just so concerned because the gastroenterologist will really not do much. They did do an MRI and it didn't show any cysts or tumors. I don't really know if an MRI is as good as a Cat scan. My sister told me just what you mentioned about the doctors not wanting to do any tests or any more surgery. She has already had her gallbladder out and has been through two ERCPs. She is only like 3 weeks or so pregnant. I hope she will make it the whole 9 months. The thing that worries me the most is that they will not catch something because they refuse to do the test to actually look inside the pancreas itself. I have been praying and will continue to pray. She does have a set of high risk neonatal specialists, but they will not do any more tests because of the baby. She has a gastroenterologist, and his associate saw her only once in the hospital told her if she had another severe attack she could expect to lose the baby. He said nothing but that and left her alone late at night crying. She called my mom that night all upset and distraught. After my sister made a complaint, the main gastroenterologist had not contacted her at all. My sister kept leaving messages and they wouldn't call her back. She finally got ahold of them and is going back this Wednesday. According to the neonatal specialists, changing drs will not help with anything but the personality of the gastroenterologist because they would all do the same thing and not do certain tests because of liability issues. I hope she doesn't have to go 9 months living off of only ivs without drinking any fluids. Anyhow, sorry this is so long, this has been really upsetting me. I do have some questions about pancreatitis if you wouldn't mind answering them for me. Just let me know. Thank you again for being so caring. It really helps to know that your little girl came out with flying colors. In these kind of situation, I believe that God is the one that pulls us through and makes miracles happen. It really helps to know that you and other people out there are so kind and actually are like angels Please feel free to email me again.
