Start with the introductory diet. We use goat's milk as it's protein is more digestible. Hold off on the yogurt for a while. We make our own yogurt. It has millions more frindly bacteria than commercial and the lactose gets consumed during incubation. Coconut milk is not " legal " but other tree nut milks, homemade are. Read the BTVC and study all the web information at; www.pecanbread.com as often as you can. regarding your previous SCD experience, it doesn't sound like you followed the suggested procedure. The fact that a lot of anti biotic has been given may make it difficult to get rid of yeast. We will all give you lots of help. Carol F. Guest guest
You will need to make the coconut milk yourself. There is a recipe in BTVC and on pecanbread.com. Will he eat anything besides potatoes? Anything at all (that's SCD legal)? If he will, then I would switch to feed him that for a few days until you can get the potato craving out of his system. Then you can try starting over with the intro diet. With kids who are likely to starve themselves, I recommend giving whatever legal foods the child will eat for a few weeks to get " over the hump " . Then go back to the intro diet, add foods slowly and keep a food log. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
Can anyone suggest a good replacement for Dari Free? He loves it and I put all his supplements in it so if I take it away he's not going to get his supplements. Also even though he's been on antibiotics he doesn't have any yeast in his stool test so that's one thing I don't have to worry about. Thanks E

Guest guest
E, Stool tests are not always accurate for yeast. I hope it was for your son. But I cannot imagine that he's been on antbiotics and consuming a lot of starch and he DOESN'T have a yeast problem. Most completely normal people get yeast problems when on antibiotics. To replace the DariFree, you'll have to do some experimentation. Make the coconut milk and a couple the nut milks and see what you can come up with individually or by combining them to get something that tastes similar to the DariFree. Sometimes the easiest thing to do though is just to switch to something else altogether like grape juice or some other juice. Then later reintroduce a milk substitute... once his taste buds have a rest from the DariFree, you might find that he accepts a substitute more easily.
