Lanie,

Here's one site:

http://www.fin.ucar.edu/procedures/sec1/proc1112_appendix.ht

ml

If you go to " Google " and type in pancreatitis, alcohol, die, and

death you can find a lot of information. Statistics say that about

350 people die each year from alcohol-related pancreatitis.

There is a lot of information out there that is available.

You might have a heart to heart with your father, also, since he is

the one buying the wine. He's only contributing to the problem

and he needs to be aware that this continual vomiting and

sickness is just being aggravated more and more by the

drinking.

Thanks for your reply, Ellen. I will look into that article. I plan on making

copies of a few things you all have been so kind to share and give them to her.

Unfortunately, her doctor sucks. He hasn't sat her down to talk ANYTHING over.

Any info she knows is what I have researched myself. We are looking into

another doctor.

Thanks again,

Lanie

Thank you Hiedi. I am sorry to admit speaking with my dad about this will do no

good. If he tells her no or didn't go and do it, it would just cause horrible

fighting and I am quite sure he will avoid it. This is something I think only I

and my siblings can work out with her. Hopefully, the fact that she may not be

able to see her grandchildren grow will be reason enough.

Thanks again,

Hi Brett,

Your timing is perfect, actually. I just talked to mom yesterday about what I

have read on here as far as diet and NO alcohol and she has quite the attitude!

She feels the dr. should have found and fixed this 10 years ago and since he

didn't, well she isn't about to stop living her life and enjoying things for the

sake of a broken down pancreas!

Really sucky attitude. I guess I need to just adjust my own to be prepared for

anything with her. Other wise I will probably just die from the stress of all

this and everything else. It makes me very mad and annoyed at her selfish

attitude. All this from a woman who says she doesn't want to die. I think I

don't believe her.

Thank you,

Lanie

world do I have to say to make her stop??? I know a majority of the

comebacks are going to be you cannot help someone who won't help

themselves and you are right. I just cannot give up on her though.

Is there any reading out there that says if you DON " T stop drinking

you will die??? I need a copy.

Hi Lanie

There will come a time...almost like a " window of opportunity " when

she gets really sick(and she will) that she will make the

decision about living or dying ...she may well be like me and need

to have " it " all on the line before she responds...acting like you

don't care if you die is no where near

as frighting as having it really about to happen. Some people need

this happen before they can progress. Some call it hitting rock

bottom!!! but its more like being hit by a freight train because

your standing to close to the edge of the platform..you Know its

dangerous but your still surprised when it happens.

Great description ..really sucky attitude...sums it up perfectly.

You don't need the stress or distress that goes with it..look after

yourself
