Guest guest
Breastfeeding is best, and in fact the American Pediatrics Association has even finally figured this out and recommends that mothers breastfeed at least 25 months. Guest guest
I breastfed my son (well, I pumped and we added pregestimil to boost calories) for one year. My wrists gave out after that (even though I had a great electric pump). My son has not had a single cold, flu or any other illness and he is 18 months old and was very premature. I truly think the only reason he is well is because of the breastmilk (at least I hope that is true--pumping was a real pain and I hope it was worth it). I wish I was still breastfeeding but he stopped when he was 8 months old so pumping was the only option. > Breastfeeding is best, and in fact the American Pediatrics Association has even finally figured this out and recommends that mothers breastfeed at least 25 months. Guest guest
I am sure your child's good health is due to the wonderful start you gave him. Congratulations on your dedication. Guest guest
I can only tell you from my own kids and breastfeeding I have 8 of them. When my 20 and 18 year olds were 5 and 3 they caught chicken pox I tried everything to get my 2 year old and my and my 1 year old to catch them at the same time (they bathed and played in the tub and pool )they drank after each other too.My 20 year old and my 18 year old were breastfed 5 months each.My 2 year old was breastfed for 10 months he is now 17 years old.My 1 year old was breastfed for 19 months she is now 16 and she finally got chicken pox last summer.I really think from experience each month of breastfeeding relates to a year of immunity.I have no scientific studies to back up my belief except what I have seen in the last (almost 20 years) breastfeeding my 8 kids.My last baby is 40 months(3.4years) I breastfed him 29 months and he is a 45 pound 38 inch and he is the healthiest of all my kids.Good Luck!
