Guest guest
I am fairly new to this site. My son is a 6 year old autistic boy who is extremely constipated after recently starting the SCD diet. I think this diet will be great if I can find a legal fiber supplement with soluble and insoluber fiber. He is a very picky eater and the only way that I can get him to eat vegetables is sneak them into his meatballs, meatloaf, etc. He does eat fresh fruits, but evidently not enough to have a regular bowel movement. I was wondering if any one has heard of Fuit-Eze. It is a 100% fruit blend fiber supplement, containing dates, prunes, and raisins. It contains no sodium, no cholestorol, no added sugar, and no preservatives or chemical additives. http://www.fruit-eze.com/index.html 1-888-Regular Would this be a legal supplement? If not, could you please suggest one. Thanks, Ritz

If not, could you please suggest one. There isn't enough information on the website to determine if legal or not. It doesn't say what kind of dates (California or other), or raisins, it doesn't let you know about secondary ingredients. For example: some raisins have canola oil or other unlisted ingredients. It says prune juice on the detail list but not the first one. It doesn't say what kind of prune juice and if there is anything added. Some prune juices have natural lemon flavour or other things addedn etc.. Have you tried the SCD constipation protocol? If not you can read about it at http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/a_to_f.htm under 1. " Constipation " and 2. " Constipation - continued " The 2nd link " Constipation - continued " talks about how uncooked fruit and veggies and their peels can contribute to constipation. Basically if the body can not digest something it goes down the digestive tract and will be used by the harmful microbes you are trying to starve. Cooked fruit and veggies still have fiber but they have components that will feed the body while starving the nasties. Sheila
