Blair,

I am 6 days post-op and only started this whole procedure March 1st.

Probably more like March 10th. Here are my steps.

1. Checked my insurance policy to see that it was a covered benefit. It was.

2. Called Debbie and asked her to mail me the patient info packet. Took 4

days to get here.

3. Set down and gather all my patient health history info and family health

info and made detailed note. Took 3 hours.

4. Filled out the form on the web that Dr. R tells us is necessary. Two

hours.

5. Started e-mailing MGA support group and requesting contacts. Received 10

in 5 days.

6. Heard back from Dr. R. whether I wanted them to proceed with the insurance

on my behalf. 48 hours after He received my completed form.

7. During the two weeks I was waiting for insurance approval I was reading

and rereading the patient manuel and reading e-mails and active with the

support group.

8.I made my appointments with my PCP as soon as Dr. R. started the insurance

info since it takes a few weeks to get in. I asked them to schedule my

mammogram so my PCP would have results when I saw him.

9. I talked to my boss when I knew that I wanted this and it was possible for

early spring.

10. I had to call the insurance company twice but that was because I was

impatient and on a deadline.

11 I contacted Debbie and asked about some dates.

12. The day I got insurance approval I called and got my surgery scheduled

when I wanted it, made airline reservations, hotels reservations, and told my

boss I had a date.

13. Ten Days later I was on the table.

Hooray!

Now I'm 6 days post op doing just great and going back to work today!

Sure hope this helps as you try to get all your info together and proceed

sown this journey.
