Guest guest
Hello Gretchen! Thanks so much for your research about alcohol. I wrote to a neuro. about this and he just said that CMT:ers should be very moderate with drinking alcohol. I do know that alcoholics can get damages on the nerves and the brain. I use to drink 2-3 glasses of wine once a week and of course I now wonder if that is to much for most CMT:ers (I don´t feel bad after such consumption). I talked to a friend about this who has a whiplashinjury in her neck after a caraccident (some kind of nervdamage) and she told me that she nowadays just can drink 1 glass of wine, otherwise she gets such terrible hangovers compered to what was the case before the accident. I know about myself that if I on a party for example also take stronger drinks than wine I also get terrible hangovers (not just headach, the hole body seems to protest) compered with others. Is it possible here is a connection or is it just a individual thing? For some months ago, when I got internet to my home and found for example CMTnet I had never heard anything about toxic medicines and that alcohol can be bad for us CMT:ers. From my doctors I received som papers with information about CMT when I got the diagnose. I also have found information on the internet about CMT in Swedish but nowhere they mention anything about toxic medicines or alcohol. I must say I got surprised when I found this lists. It´s sad they for some reason don´t mention this for us patients here. Thanks, Rose from Sweden
