Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I would like to ask everyone's advice on my current situation. I am 24 years old and have been married for 9 1/2 months. I was diagnosed with RLS last June, but have had it since childhood. My situation is this: I was taking Sinemet twice a day, along with Celexa, an anti-depressant, but stopped about 2 months ago. The RLS & PLMS have been pretty bad and my husband and I can not sleep in the same bed for the entire night. It is putting a strain on our marriage, but so far there is nothing else we can do. In order for both of us to get a decent night's sleep we can not sleep together. I have a doctor's appointment next Friday, the 14th, and want to know what medications have proved to be the most helpful without horrible side effects. I stopped taking the Sinemet because it (along with the RLS in general) was causing me to get depressed, hence the Celexa. And the Sinemet was causing daytime augmentation that was driving me bonkers! I can't deal with it anymore. I have not been depressed since I stopped taking the medication, but I have not been sleeping so well over the past week, which is beginning to take its toll. I keep waking up at 4 am, after a restless sleep 2 1/2 hours later. I then fall into a deep sleep and the alarm goes off. This is not enough of a good sleep for me. I can't sleep in on weekends, my body won't let me. I am going crazy. Please help. I don't know what to do anymore, but I don't want to go on living this way. I won't do anything drastic, but I am so tempted to just cut my legs off! I guess I'm looking for a miracle drug, but have my doubts that I will find it. I also wanted to ask a question of the group. Does anyone get the RLS feeling in there shoulders or back? I get that creepy crawly feeling between my shoulder blades, around my spine. It is annoying! Does anyone else experience the RLS during temperature changes? I feel it worse when I am either too hot or too cold. Ok, I will end this long letter and patiently await your responses! Thank you very much! , 24, Massachusetts _________________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi , I'm with you on wishing for a miracle drug, or just a miracle, but in the meantime, Mirapex works the best for me, and I have tried all the Parkinson drugs. Codiene also works, but I save it for emergencies, due to its addictive nature. Having to sleep in separate beds must be an unhappy situation, especially since you're a newly wed! Is your husband understanding of the problem? The feeling of wanting to cut off your legs is quite common, but my advice is to save it as a final option-LOL! Seriously, this disorder can be dangerous, because at its worst, we are tempted to do anything for relief, and that " anything " can be dangerous and irrevocable in terms of future health. I've lived with this long enough to know one thing is predictable - it will get worse, and then it will improve, for no obvious reason. Try to remember the improvement part of the cycle when it's kicking up. It will happen. Time is on your side - there will be a breakthrough, and you'll still be young enough to enjoy a long life, rls free. Another thing you can count on is that we'll be here for you, always. If you're like some in the group who also suffer from " e-mail overload syndrome " (eos), we may be here too much, but you'll never be alone! ne, 59, Lawrenceville, NJ --- earthgirl_13@...> wrote: > > > Hello Everyone, > > I would like to ask everyone's advice on my current > situation.
