Hello Everyone,

I would like to ask everyone's advice on my current

situation. I am 24 years old and have been married

for 9 1/2 months. I was diagnosed with RLS last June,

but have had it since childhood. My situation is

this: I was taking Sinemet twice a day, along with

Celexa, an anti-depressant, but stopped about 2 months

ago. The RLS & PLMS have been pretty bad and my

husband and I can not sleep in the same bed for the

entire night. It is putting a strain on our marriage,

but so far there is nothing else we can do. In order

for both of us to get a decent night's sleep we can

not sleep together. I have a doctor's appointment

next Friday, the 14th, and want to know what

medications have proved to be the most helpful without

horrible side effects. I stopped taking the Sinemet

because it (along with the RLS in general) was causing

me to get depressed, hence the Celexa. And the

Sinemet was causing daytime augmentation that was

driving me bonkers! I can't deal with it anymore. I

have not been depressed since I stopped taking the

medication, but I have not been sleeping so well over

the past week, which is beginning to take its toll. I

keep waking up at 4 am, after a restless sleep 2 1/2

hours later. I then fall into a deep sleep and the

alarm goes off. This is not enough of a good sleep

for me. I can't sleep in on weekends, my body won't

let me. I am going crazy. Please help. I don't know

what to do anymore, but I don't want to go on living

this way. I won't do anything drastic, but I am so

tempted to just cut my legs off! I guess I'm looking

for a miracle drug, but have my doubts that I will

find it.

I also wanted to ask a question of the group. Does

anyone get the RLS feeling in there shoulders or back?

I get that creepy crawly feeling between my shoulder

blades, around my spine. It is annoying! Does anyone

else experience the RLS during temperature changes? I

feel it worse when I am either too hot or too cold.

Ok, I will end this long letter and patiently await

your responses! Thank you very much!
