Guest guest
Last October, I collected data for NY Ctr for Ag Med & Hlth in study on ergonomics of apple picking among migrants in northeast states, and we will be presenting at stown conference, also. A question for Washington-(state)-ians: what provisions are being made for ergonomic education and training of migrants under WISHA's proposed ergonomics rule (http://www.lni.wa.gov/wisha/ergo/rule_dev/ergoprop.htm)? I didn't see mention of reaching workers who aren't English speaking. I think the apple pickers would fall into the caution zone jobs that would lead to ergonomics training. Guest guest
and Folks, Attached are our comments on Washington State's proposed ergonomics rules. The comments include recommendations on education and training, along with recommendations on hazard identification, ergonomic evaluation of injuries, a medical management program, record keeping, and specific ergonomic controls. I imagine that we'll get into the details of training when and if ergonomics rules are actually adopted. I'd be eager to see the Northeast data on the ergonomics of apple picking.
