Guest guest
C, Hey, I’m new to the group too and am learning so much. I too had the cone biopsy done and most of my cervix is gone. It is inevitable that I would lose a baby if we got pregnant. The ab/cerc seems like the best option for me too. I was never told that when they did the cone biopsy on Valentine’s Day to remove the precancerous cells that I wouldn’t be able to have a normal pregnancy. My cone biopsy was a nightmare too. I hemorrhaged and ended up on the operating table twice in one day. I keep wondering if the biopsy was even necessary. I lived through two years with those so called precancerous cells and actually was pregnant with my daughter for one of the years. She is 22 months old and such a joy. I am seeking all the information that you are at this point and need it to convince my husband that I need his support. It is rather devastating when you mention the ab/cerc to other women and they have no idea what you are talking about. I figured I would get the ab/cerc put in place prior to a pregnancy, but then how difficult does it make it to become pregnant. Why were you going to start fertility treatments? Have you had trouble getting pregnant in the past? I need to sign off now. Ida New Member Hi All, I'm new to this site and am so relieved that there are others of you out there. No one I know has even heard of the abdominal cerclage. I have never been pregnant - now I'm thinking it's due in part to the shortness of my cervix (after two leeps and a cone). Anyway - was going to start fertility treatments (IUI + Clomid) in about a month but was shocked to learn from a perinatology visit that it looks as though I have an incompetent cervix - no one ever spoke of this before. They suggested that I wait until I'm pregnant to see if there's enough tissue there to actually put in a vaginal cerclage. But, I'm wondering if I shouldn't push to get the abdominal cerclage prior to fertility treatments? Wouldn't it be safer to do the abdominal cerclage prophylatically rather than as an emergent rescue? Anyone have any thoughts? Needless to say the thought of losing a baby during the second trimester scares me (with just the vaginal cerclage). Sigh. Advice? C Yahoo!
