I too have that, especially with the change of the season. I use Eucerin

cream and cotton gloves to bed, and it keeps everything good to go.

I have tried Eucerin along with just about every other cream on the

market and a bunch of prescription ones. Nothing worked for me and

the dry scaley spots were all over my body and turning into sores.

Getting the idea to use the conditioner was just a stroke of luck.

Has anyone here had experience with SAMe ? I took it

for a short time but it's cost made it a problem. Now

I'm on Serzone anti-depressant which I HATE taking

with a passion due to it's sedating side effects. I

have a very delicate system to MEDs in general and I'm

on Propranolol for unstable angina as well as Lotensin

for hypertension, both have a side effect of

drowsiness so I don't want to add more of those

feelings. I have tried St. 's Worth with Valerian

root but herbs take a while to build their

effectiveness. I was on Neurontin for neuropathy pain

that causes my left foot to feel like it's on fire and

I can't stand long or walk very far, weird for a guy

who used to be a college track and football player

many moons ago. I stopped taking Neurontin because

again it shares the same negative side effects so I

take extra strength OTC pain relievers in mixtures.

Recently I began taking Cal-Mag with Vitamin D & zinc

to increase energy in my muscles, so far I'm holing

out for hope that it helps. The only supplement I ever

took that had a dramatic yet short lived effect was

Malic acid & magnesium hydroxide, too bad it didn't

last but it did help for a while with energy and

stamina.

I think that you have been given good advice already... Kimber sent you the

s Hopkins site, I printed that one and had my doc put it in my chart AND I

carry it with me when I go into the ER... not that they ever read it, but if I

get persistant enough I bet they would. (I've been pretty lucky so far as my

docs office is actually a teaching clinic and the docs there are willing to read

anything I bring in and they Ask ME for advice on my pain meds and foods.) But

some of them are bone heads, like the one I had when I had to be admitted two

weeks ago. She wouldn't listen, period. She was not from America, she is just

here for her schooling then is going back to her home country... Hope no one she

treats ever presents with panc problems!

Anyway... I just wanted to Welcome you to the group and tell you that I am sooo

glad you found us... If you ever have questions or need help with anything, just

post and I'm sure you will get plenty of imput!

Hi Angelina,

Zyvox is a new drug that was especially developed to treat MRSA. It should

be able to eradicate the bug.

Don't know why the doc prescribes clindamycin. Lincomycin (same family)

doesn't help against Pseudomonas, I am not sure about clindamycin though.

Don't be shy to ask why he doesn't use a standard combo like Tobi plus cipro

or Colistin plus cipro. And three weeks seems to be to short a time to treat

Pseudomonas.

Gosh, It does sound like she is watching out for you ..What is her name. I

will be able to answer questions about who .in Tamps. Sounds like she is

aware that others do try to change things. Bless your heart the rain has

been a mess. I am up here in Orlando. We had it raining at night Thursday .I

didn't see much. It didn't start here until I was on my way home from store

shopping with my daughter . Soooo, I didn't bring my packages in until the

morning .It was beautiful here yesterday . Chipper , but lovely 72*.clear.

But It is cold to me this am. 51*.I am freezing . It is already starting to

shine , but the temps are only to go to 70* ............I will have heater

on un car. So, you take care. Let us know how its going

only do i get to make a 2hr trip in this nasty rainy weather i get

rush hour traffic in tampa where there also doing construction on

what we call malfunction junction well anyway they do the surgury in

10 days they want to do iv antibiotics to make sure hes well he

cultured ecoli? so there also doing another culture and putting in

something called a midline his cf dr told me that the residents

would check me in and she told me what her orders were to not let

them change anything(they always try) if they do i have to call her

but anyways i guess i just wait i still have to get my husband from

work so he can take us over there i guess i need another car well

I dunno about a great day...I'm still recovering from the septoplasty/polyp

removal. Bleh. No pills=pain. Pills=dizzy or passed out. Dry mouth,

dry/bleeding (at the same time!) nasal passages. Allergy to the tape they used

to keep the drip pad under my nose...so my face is broken out there. And my

upper gums are still numb in some spots because they had to break the bone in my

nose to fix the septum. But, I'm starting to be able to smell stuff...which is

good in some cases...and I've spent a lot of time catching up on some needed

sleep, and I haven't had to brave a shopping center or mall yet! And, none of

the work is visible from the outside, so I don't look like someone hit me with a

baseball bat or anything.

Ah well...maybe I can actually get some stuff done today. If I can just not

have to take the pain pills, I could actually get some candy made or something.

(Can't operate the TV, much less the stove, while on the pills.) And I still

need to finish decorating the house and stuff. Arf...a month to do everything

in, and I still can't get it all done! Every year it's a last-minute thing.

And this year I just really want to have a nice holiday meal at my house with my

family, and maybe get my mom and stepdad, and my hubby's parents to come over

and enjoy some time at our house. Been a while since we've done that.

Anyhow, I'll stop complaining now...I really am doing better than I was, and

even with all the drainage and stuff my nose is definitely clearer on the side

they took the polyps out of...I can actually breathe through it. Actually, that

side doesn't hurt at all...it's the side where they made the incision for the

septoplasty that hurts. All in all, I am mending...so I shouldn't really

complain.

upper gums are still numb in some spots because they had to break the bone in my

nose to fix the septum. But, I'm starting to be able to smell stuff...which is

good in some cases...and I've spent a lot of time catching up on some needed

sleep, and I haven't had to brave a shopping center or mall yet! And, none of

the work is visible from the outside, so I don't look like someone hit me with a

baseball bat or anything.

Ah well...maybe I can actually get some stuff done today. If I can just not

have to take the pain pills, I could actually get some candy made or something.

(Can't operate the TV, much less the stove, while on the pills.) And I still

need to finish decorating the house and stuff. Arf...a month to do everything

in, and I still can't get it all done! Every year it's a last-minute thing.

And this year I just really want to have a nice holiday meal at my house with my

family, and maybe get my mom and stepdad, and my hubby's parents to come over

and enjoy some time at our house. Been a while since we've done that.

Anyhow, I'll stop complaining now...I really am doing better than I was, and

even with all the drainage and stuff my nose is definitely clearer on the side

they took the polyps out of...I can actually breathe through it. Actually, that

side doesn't hurt at all...it's the side where they made the incision for the

septoplasty that hurts. All in all, I am mending...so I shouldn't really

complain.

well the drs just called williams bed will be ready at 4pm so not

only do i get to make a 2hr trip in this nasty rainy weather i get

rush hour traffic in tampa where there also doing construction on

what we call malfunction junction well anyway they do the surgury in

10 days they want to do iv antibiotics to make sure hes well he

cultured ecoli? so there also doing another culture and putting in

something called a midline his cf dr told me that the residents

would check me in and she told me what her orders were to not let

them change anything(they always try) if they do i have to call her

but anyways i guess i just wait i still have to get my husband from

work so he can take us over there i guess i need another car well

I dunno about a great day...I'm still recovering from the septoplasty/polyp

removal. Bleh. No pills=pain. Pills=dizzy or passed out. Dry mouth,

dry/bleeding (at the same time!) nasal passages. Allergy to the tape they used

to keep the drip pad under my nose...so my face is broken out there. And my

Boy, what an awful time to be feeling like crap. I hope you're feeling

better soon.

I have avoided all the shopping crowds myself this year for a different

reason. My twins are 18 months old and refuse to be restrained in any way. A

simple trip to the grocery store results in shrieks of outrage if I don't

let them run around like they own the place. For the last two years the

internet has saved my sanity during the holiday season. Between the free

shipping specials and no taxes, I have no reason to get out and fight the

crowds! There are still a few things that I will have to get out and

actually shop for, but I like to wait until the last week before Christmas.

I guess I'm a die hard bargain shopper because during that last week I get

awesome prices for the stuff I buy.

Good luck getting caught up!

PS. I wouldn't recommend operating your credit card on painkillers either!
