Sounds like we’re all on the same

path. We’re doing the same for , except using Aquaphor instead of Vaseline.

Her dry patches are getting much better!

Jordans

eczema.....

I started putting Jordan in the tub

Wednesday night and did the vaseline / Elidel afterwards. It was amazing how

much better his skin felt. It really felt great. Next morning, I put

elidel on the bad spots and tried his hydrocort/eucerin and he said it burned

and stung. So I did vaseline again. Thursday night we did the soak again

and vaseline and it was amazing! His skin looks so much better this

mornign! Also have taken dairy out and will watch the bad places. They

seem to be getting better. Thanks so much for sharing the vaseline

information!!

May I VENT???

I took Jordan to the dermatologist today (he has not seen this one before). She walked in the room and did not even go over to my son to look at him. She did glance over there and then she sat down and TALKED. TALKED TALKED TALKED! I barely had a word in edgewise. Then she got up to leave, and I tried to ask her about the supplements, and all I got was they were experimental. She was nice, but it really bothered me she did not lay ONE hand on my son to look at his skin. Am I wrong?? Or would this bother you ladies too??

I did not get to ask the questions I wanted to. I was trying to concentrate on what she was telling me. She told me to STOP the bath soaks and vaseline! This has helped his skin more than anything in the past!!! UGH!! Anyway, I am going to have to think this over this weekend if we are even going back to her. It is hard cause the insurance he has we have to get referrals. He has been to one dermatologist and I will probably go back to him. Now, I will have to call the primary doc to get them to switch the referral back to the first doctor. Sorry to ramble, can you tell it bothered me???!?!?!?!?!?!

Pam,

Sounds like our experiences. You’re

not wrong at all to be upset. I’m quite surprised, though, that she

didn’t examine Jordan…isn’t that

why you were there, paying her for her time???

My husband always tells me…”remember

who’s in charge…YOU!” If you weren’t happy with

her, maybe you could call her…get some of your questions answered?

As for the baths and Vaseline, you

know best what works for your child. I’d keep doing it if I were

you. Our allergist (that wasn’t too helpful on some issues) did say

that where doctors used to believe baths were bad, they’ve now started to

change their tune about it.

And as you know, what works for some

doesn’t work for others. Do what works for Jordan.

Don’t stress over it. And

have a great weekend!

I am so happy that he is doing better! Yay! Vaseline always worked wonders here. When said that his cream would burn, I immediatley took it off and put on Vaseline. It is amazing! Also, there is a cream out there called Cetaphil, it is used for eczema too. Just a warning though...if you have a nut allergic child, the Cetaphil has almond oil in it.

I am so far behind on checking my mail, but this one popped up right away.

I am so sorry that you had to go through that. The doctor obviously didn't care enough to look at your son. I would have been so mad!!! Definitely change doctors and don't worry if you have to get a different referral. You are in charge..not the doctor. We were told by one doctor to only bathe once a week. My sons eczema was horrible! We switched doctors and were told to bathe 30 minutes each night and then to put on the Vaseline. It locks in the moisture. 's eczema got so much better! Ask your doctor about protopic if you can. It works the best for . We tried the elidel and it worked pretty good too but it was just plain elidel. It wasn't mixed with anything. Good luck to you! I am praying that everything works out well for you all! Stay strong!

I am amazed at how a 1.00 tub of vaseline is doing so much more for Jordan than the 60.00 tub of steroid cream!!!!!!! I even looked at Aquaphor, and it is basically Petrolateum (spelling) which is basically vaseline, only it has lanolin in it. Lanolin is something to do with wool and his dermatologist told us to avoid things with lanolin in it!! Amazing, it is found in many things for DRY skin!! Thanks for the heads up on Cetaphil, amazing how we have to read the label on EVERYTHING!!

Alyssa,

IT is amazing how vaseline is working. This doctor I went to today told me to STOP the vaseline! Told me ONE bath a week. Then she handed me a brochure about Atopic Derm. and it said in the brochure to give DAILY baths and moisturize with Aquaphor (this has lanolin in it which is a wool ) so we are just using vaseline. It amazed me how she tol dme one thing then handed me a brochure to take home which contradicted everything she told me!!

Amazing.

Who would have known a 2.00 tub of vaseline works better than a 65.00 tub of steroid cream LOL!!!! NOT ME, if I had not joined this loop! I always had the thought it would clog his pores and make it worse!! It has been the best thing for him
