I am sorry for your losses.

I had a lot of pain after surgery. I was on a morphine pump for 1

day 1/2, then pills. I had mine done @ 15 weeks bc dr thought my

vaginal was coming out. I think that they are usually placed bf 15

weeks. Some dr will do them pre pg. My dr said that he usually

writes ladies out for 4 to 6 weeks, however I have been out since 12

wks. Every situation is different.

hope this helps

You are so right. I too lost two babies in 2003 and I am planning

to have the ab placed in November but I am trying to decided on the

surgery or the laposcopic way. What way are you doing yours. I

just heard from someone that says they had the laposcopic done and

her pain level was min and recovery time was 3 days all done before

pregnancy. I would be lost right now if I didn't have this site.

God bless everyone who helps another. I thank you all.

Hi there,

I had my abd done pre-pregnancy. I was out of work for two weeks but

overall thought my recovery was pretty good. I was too scared to have

it done once pregnant and my doctor preferred to do it pre-pregnancy--

seems they are all different.

I did have pain but nothing intolerable (and I am a wimp!) I was in

the hospital for the two days following hte surgery but was on pain

pills for about 4 days after that (vicadin).

I lost twins last March, it is such a difficult thing, and although

doing things differently won't bring them back, it will help us to

have confidence and strength to get through the next pregnancy.

I am currently ttc and am hopeful that this will work. The ladies on

this board are definitely proof!

Take care and good luck with everything you decide,

Love,

Beth

Reba:

I had my ab-cerclage placed in at 9 weeks gestation; I was in the hospital 1

day (surgery in afternoon, and released next afternoon). I had minimal

bleeding and was off all but tylenol for pain after 5 days. I went back to

work full time after 4 weeks and had only a lifting restriction throughout my

pregnancy. I had my surgery done the non-laproscopic procedure.

My daughter is almost 14 months old

Good luck in your decision making

Well, that might be my only way too. I haven't spoke with my doctor

yet not until Monday. By us doing it before pregnancy the recovery

should be a little better I think. Let me know when you are going

in and I will let you know what I decide on Monday and my date.

Thanks Reba

Thank you Lori. That is what I need to hear. I know I might have to

do it the surgery way after I am pregnant. Thank you.

Thanks Beth, this really helps me a lot. I am doing exactly what

you did. What procedure did you get lapo or non lapo? And, I am

sorry but every one keeps typing ttc what does this stand for?

Hi,

I didn´t have my ab cerclage placed yet. I´m scheduled to do it prior

pregnancy at the end of November (immediately after my period ends, my doc

prefers this way). I´m sure the wonderful girls in this board will be able

to ask your questions. But, from what I´ve learned here (and from my doc)

it seems that it is a hard procedure and there is pain, but it varies from

one women to the other. There are ladies here that went through a very hard

recovery and others did well. I´m taking two weeks off from work to do my

procedure. My doc said it should be fine. I chose to do my cerclage pre

pregnancy because I dilate tooo early (my last pre. I started to dilated at

9 weeks) and because I´m also prone to infection and in this case I feel

that the earlier my cervix is closed, the better.

I also lost two babies in 2003. It´s been a hard year, no? But, I think

both of us should be confident about the next time with the ab. This board

have a great success rate with the ab.

Are you planning to ttc soon?

Love and take care.

I would like to know what to expect after the ab cerclage surgery.

Pain level or at all? Recovery time, how long should I be out from

work? If having the ab cerclage placed before I get pregnant or

after which should be best? This will be my third time around and I

really need to support trusting what to do next. I lost two babies

in 2003 with transviginal cerclages placed both times and I feel

like this is my last chance with the ab. If anyone can help it

would make me more confident in doing the procedure. Thanks

I´m doing mine on the surgery way. I don´t have a choice in fact, as my doc

does not do it laparoscopic. Anyway, I´m trusting that my recover won´t be

so hard, or at least, if it is hard, I know that it won´t be harder then

all I´ve been thought.

Hey Reba

I had my ab cerclage placed pre-pregnancy. We lost a baby boy,

Preston, at 16.5 weeks to a failed vaginal cerclage last year. I'm

so sorry for your loss. I have about a 4 " cut. I was in the

hospital 2 nights and at home 2 weeks. I was on the good drugs for

a few days and then switched to Advil when I got home. Once you get

through the first week, it gets so much better. I went back to work

week 3, but then the Christmas holidays came, and I had some more

time to lay around. The pain was never too much. We waited about 3

months before we TTC, and got pregnant the 2nd month we tried.

Let us know if you have other questions.

Love, Leigh

I had the ad cerclage

placed at 12 weeks. I am currently 17 weeks. The surgery was very ruff on me. I

threw up the whole time, during , after and then some. It hurt the first week. Recovery

after that was easy. This is not the case with all women. The doc had a hard time b/c my organs

and major blood vessels were located on

top and near the uterus were he had to work. At first, I thought I would

never make it with the recovery but now I can do this. I feel better and my

cervix is holding its own. I have lost a son with a vaginal creclage

and a rescue cerclage. The ad cerclage

is a smart move. I am sorry you had to loss two babies. The loss will never go

away. You sound like a trooper and you will be able to go through with it. This

is our last chance to. I felt I owed it to my angel in the heavens to try it

for the last time.

questions

I would like to know what to expect after the ab

cerclage surgery.

Pain level or at all? Recovery time, how

long should I be out from

work? If having the ab cerclage placed

before I get pregnant or

after which should be best? This will be my

third time around and I

really need to support trusting what to do

next. I lost two babies

in 2003 with transviginal cerclages placed both

times and I feel

like this is my last chance with the ab. If

anyone can help it

would make me more confident in doing the

procedure. Thanks

That is very helpful. I know what ever I do its going to work. God

has been good to me when it comes to surgery. I would like everyone

to know that God uses good people to prove to others his grace.

Remember, we are chosen to show courage and faith through times like

these. Taryn let me know how your pregnancy is doing. When you

deliver it will be a win for us all.

It is so worth it. My pain was less than others because mine was done

partially laparoscopic so my maine incision was about half the size of

others. I was in the hospital for 3 nights. I was 11 weeks when I had it

done. I had our miracle baby at 35.5 weeks and everytime I look at him, I

realize everthing I have been through was worth it!
