Guest guest
<< What other vitamins seem to be helpful? (I know this was discussed before but I have not printed it out.) >> My doc believes that if one wants to take any vitamins and such, that Vitamins E, B1, and B12 may have some benefit. Also folic acid, lecithin, and perhaps magnesium. Just normal amounts of course, not mega doses. It may be that we don't need any of these, but the placebo effect may help. The fad supplements tend to run their course or when a lot of people take them the bad side effects become apparent. This is one point of view. Guest guest
500mg calc is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY low. Carbonate is pretty useless to about anyone, but most especially us. Ferrous sulfate is not absorbed well by ANYONE, most esp us, and can cause mega gastric/bowel distress. And there needs to be a Vit C to go with it. It can be pretty much any Vit C, as far as I know. Just needs a " buddy " . Did you mean 50,000 IU D? Which D? Dry? A seems low to me for as distal as you are. WE start around 40,ooo IU. Dry? And if you lose A&D, you also lose E. Our distals were started at 800IU (dry) We also tend to be kinda low in the B-family. A pair of good multi's might do it. I do a B-complex as well. I know some DS who need B12, some who don't. As long as you're watching your numbers & not letting it sneak up on you....... Zinc aids protein uptake. We tend to run a bit low in that. I need 200mg a day to hold mid-range. But my husband only needs 50mg. Go figure. We just watch the labs to see where we're going. The 8 malabsorbed elements: protein iron calcium A, D, E zinc B12 (some fats/oils, some carbs Other stuff as labs indicate) Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
The only ones that are kool-aidy that I know currently are the Sci Fit Amino Infusion 5000 family. They're collagen, add to water (to taste) and presto. More of a juice than a milky thing. As to vites, well, I might be known to have an opinion on them. They don't have to be expensive, they only have to be right. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. T www.vitalady.com If you are interested in PayPal, please click here: https://secure.paypal.com/affil/pal=vitalady%40bigfoot.com vitamins I am a first time post to this group but have been reading for months. I have surgery March 21 and wanted some advise. This site has been the best I have found so far. I am curious about vitamins and the amount of fillers used in them. Are there any vitamins designed for WLS patients, which absorb better in our pouch? I am not even sure what vitamins I should be taking. Everyone has gotten me pretty excited about trying PS 100 (Chocolate of course!) Is there anything that has a taste like Koolaid or lemonaid. I like fruit flavored drinks but not a creamy type flavor. I am planning on ordering some samples. How much protein should I be taking in now, to get ready for surgery? Guest guest
Are you sure he said to stop the calcium? I just recently had plastic surgery and my surgeon said to stop the Vit E, but not the calcium. And he said the E in the multivitamin was ok, just no extra E. Chrissie Vitamins Can anyone give the name of a multi vitamin that does not have Calcium of Vitamin E in it. I am having some plastic surgery done (upper & lower eyelids) and the surgeon wants me to discontinue Vit E and Calcium three weeks before the procedure. Since I do not want to stop taking vitamins all together, I am looking for an alternative. Robina
