Kathy-

I don't remember you, but I'm new around here too. My surgery date

is 33 days away. I've dreamed twice that I'm waking up from the

anesthetic and have this sense of relief that I wake up alive! I'm

the one who was sure that " slight chance of death " thing would be me,

so I had my wisdom teeth taken out wide awake... all four of them! I

guess it does make me a little nervous. Just remember, if they open

you up and find something bad inside, at least you'll have a chance

to survive! If they never opened you up and never found it, it might

kill you! Isn't that comforting? LOL!

I guess seeing my sister go through the surgery in Feb. and seeing

how fabulous she is doing is calming a lot of my fears. As she likes

to remind me, " Complications aren't the norm. The majority of people

get through it just fine. "

Hi everyone. My name is Kathy Bazzi. I'm from Michigan. I was a member of this list and because of 'puter problems, I had to discontinue about 2 months ago. I'm back on line now and I would like to know if anyone remembers me!

There are a lot of new names here.

I was the one who had surgery canceled by the hospital just two days prior.

The hospital said the procedure was not cost effective enough for them to continue. (long story...short answer). So, I've waited all this time, since January 14, for my doctor, Dr. Mustafa Hares, and his staff, to find another hospital.

Well, they found St. 's-Oakland. I'm very impressed. This facility has welcomed our group, from Bloomfield Bariatrics, with open arms and then some. I have finally got a date--May 15, 8 am! Just 4 short days from now.

The problem now is that I am getting NERVOUS. What if I don't succeed at this weight loss thing? I've been having dreams that Dr. H opens me up to find something terrible. I wake up in my dream without having any wls done!

This is not normal for me. I'm usually the picture of patience, unlimited.

Does anyone know what I can do to help?

Hi Kathy, I remember you! I'm remember when your original surgery had been canceled by the hospital. Wow, you only have a couple of days to go.

Good for you. I think what your feeling is very normal. About a week before my surgery I couldn't sleep a wink, never mind dream. I was out of my mind with anticipation, excitement, fear, etc. Best wishes for an uneventful surgery and recovery.

I sure do remember you Kathi! So glad to hear things are back in

order for Dr Hares.

I think your dreams and anxieties are normal when one is facing such

a huge change in their life. I'm scared too, and I'm a month behind

you! Just keep reminding yourself how lucky you are to have this

option and such a skilled surgeon.

Keep yourself busy and focus on the positive. It will be done

before you know it and you will be on the other side. Lucky you!!

Hi Kathy B:

I remember you of course! Welcome back and conga rats!

Your body and mind are just in high gear, remember Kim's sage saying "Be a leaf in the stream" You have begun the ride and it is a wonderful trip and the most amazing journey.

I wrote a letter to the list once about taking a small box, cover it in pretty paper and get a nice length of ribbon, then write each and every fear and doubt on a different piece of paper, read the fear outloud, acknowledge the fear, the way it makes you feel and then tell the fear that you are aware of it but choose to put it away and then put the piece of paper in the box. I know this may sound silly but it does work because you are not denying your fears we all know how serious this surgery is and how scary but you are saying that yes I understand the fears but I choose to put them away and move forward. Then when you have done this with all your fears and doubts put the lid on the box and wrap it up in that pretty ribbon and put it on a high shelf in a closet where it is safe until after surgery. I did the same kind of things with letters I wrote to people I love and care about.

I opened that box not long ago and read what I had written to them, the hopes and fears and how much they had meant to my life just in case something happened and I didn't make it. It was very interesting to read them 2 years later.

By the way about a year after surgery I took my box of doubts and fears and burned it outdoors and let all of them go.

Hi Kathy-- I'm new around here too, so I don't remember you either. On the subject of dreams, be warned I am a proto-shrink-- I have my MS in counseling but no license -- not enough energy to do two jobs to get the hours at BMI of 71, 386 lbs and 5'2". According to a number of theories, dreams can be the vehicle for messages from your subconscious. Your dream is saying that something terrible will come to light if you have this surgery, or that something terrible is the reason you are fat. Your subconscious may know something you don't about the emotional reasons behind your weight and food behaviors. You might want to consider doing some journaling work or getting into short term counseling with someone who has a clue about food and emotions -- there are dozens of books out there in the self help sections of your basic book store that can help you start the exploration of your emotions around food and fat. You can always just go have the surgery and wait for the feelings to blind side you into stupid behaviors. I always hate it when the monster in the closet at night gets out before I get my flash light and base ball bat. Good Luck!-- Nan E.

Kathy, I remember you and I am so glad you are going to get to have your

surgery finally. I think it's normal for us all to be nervous even for those

events in our lives that we embrace and look so forward to. Don't have any

suggestions for the dreams. I expect they will end once you've had surgery.

Good luck! You'll do fine and be on the other side soon.

Remember Me?

I know it's been months since I've written. I have to be honest...I've been in quite a depression since December last year. I started seeing a Dr around June (my babies' birthdays) and he had me on all kinds of medications. I found another Dr who has been wonderful. I'm finally feeling better...not so down. I was feeling a huge amount of guilt over my babies' deaths. I struggle everday with the pain of my losses, but I have so much joy in my abdominal cerclage baby Quinn. He's 16 months old and is such a terror! I love him to pieces and enjoy staying home with him. I've been working with my multiple loss group a lot and SHARE (volunteering etc). I created a website for CLIMB (www.freewebs.com/climbstl) if you want to check it out. I also have been working on brochures for the group. It really helps me to connect to my babies. Well...just wanted to give an update. I miss talking to everyone! Hope everyone is well :)Many hugs,Brina
