Guest guest
Hi all, Well dr. just called. I think that he thinks I'm nuts. I am obsessed with this funneling thing. What he said was this: first, the stitch is holding. It isn't breaking or slipping. It is, however, possibly being slightly stretched from it's original tightness due to my stupid dynamic cervix which likes to open and close. That is the reason for the funneling through the stitch. The danger is that the funneling will extend to the external os. THen I will have to go in the hospital for several months. Right now he is not too worried since the funneling is either the same or better and has been stable over 2-3wks. However this doesn't make me feel any better. Has anyone had this experience with a dynamic cervix? He said they have seen it open and close slightly. He said my problems are all related to that- I have no PTL issues now. Any info, experience would be appreciated. Thanks, Cindy

Guest guest
Cindy, If I remember correctly, had funneling with her cerclage (she has a true transabdominal) and it lessened as the baby got bigger. I think she might be able to give you a small piece of mind! Always, Kara > Hi all, > > Well dr. just called. I think that he thinks I'm nuts. I am > obsessed with this funneling thing. Guest guest
Cindy, This is what happened to me also with the ab cerclage. My internal os began opening despite the stitch. My funneling did not start until around 22-24 weeks. It was gone at 29 weeks. I then had PTL and starting dilating. My stitch did loosen. I did make it to 35.5 weeks. So, they replaced the stitch during the c-section. My funneling never made it to the external os and my cervix stayed long during that time. Guest guest
Hi Cindy, When I was pg with my first set of twins I was monitored via u/s every 2 weeks (because I had lost triplets previos to this pg) because they wanted to see if I had an IC. Well when they did a u/s one day they saw from one view that my cervix was long/closed, and a few seconds later it was shortening and then lengthen again after a few second. At this time I was admitted to the hospital and the next morning they did a vag cerclage. You would think that a dynamic chaning cervix was better than an IC but I guess still it is a type of IC. Do you have an ab cerclage currently or are you pg? Sorry I missed the update list. Well with my ab cerclage they did not see any change in the cervix on u/s so I guess that is hoprful news, since I def have a dynamic changing cervix. Hope this helps a bit any questions let me know.. Wishing you luck and sending prayers, Dawn Mommy to Triplet and Twin Angels 3/30/01, ans 4/4/01 sb at 16 weeks and 1/2/02 b/d at 20 weeks My miracle ab twins la and Lydia born 10/26/03 and blessing us every day..
