Guest guest Posted April 30, 2000 Report Share Posted April 30, 2000 Trish, I'm still here. I go through all the e-mails about once a day. So I guess you could say a lurk around. Hee,Hee. I haven't written much because I get tired of the sniping. I keep hoping & praying that everyone will just ignore comments that upset them and get on with what we are here for. If we ignore the nay sayers they will go away. That is my 2 cents. I refuse to get in the battles. My own personnal battle of the bulge is a big enough fight for me. I also have been working a lot of extra hours at my job to be prepared for my time off. I had hoped that my company would bring someone in to cover for me while i'm out. But so far I haven't heard anything. So I'm stressing that my projects will not survive without me. LOL. Actually the stress come from knowing how much work will be waiting when I get back. May surgery date is May 10th. I'm very excited. I can't wait to meet my littermates. I'm more than ready to start a new healthier life. When are you coming to beautiful NC? You are someone I want to meet. I love your sense of humor. I'm watching, reading, laughing and crying with everyone. I just don't usually write much. I have really good news my Husband has decided that he is not going to let me go alone. He got mad at when I surgery a few weeks ago I told him to drop me off it was no big deal. well, when he came to pick me up I was still under, he was upset. Well, I wanted him to get the kids off to school, He is such a worry wart. Sometimes it is easier to do and then he can pamper me.lol Your husbands surgery is this week isn't it ? I have claimed May 10th for my date, As long as the insurance comes through. So my prayers are focused on insurance for myself. All else is ready. Tell your hubby that you will be well taken care of and we will call him with an update as soon as you are out of surgery. Since I will be off work it will make it easier if you want to stay here. I will have a pool by then and we can rest out side with our juice and yogart. I hope you are not allergic to animals bc I have a dog, three cats, and a husband that will try his best to keep you laughing. He is a real kick. Or I can hang out at the hotel with you if you prefer that. Either way you are stuck with me. I can't wait to meet you. Maybe that is why I was postponed. I might have to take an extended vacation..teehee. I think our final vote is that Chuck (my other half) will come in Monday (its an all day flight there) go to clinic with me on Tuesday I will have surgery Wednesday and if all is OK he will take off Thursday morning, I want to stay a couple of days. IM not sure, How do you feel after the Surgery? Do you think I will be up to 8 hours of flight and transfers if I leave the day after? I wish Dr. Rutledge lived here. Or I lived there. I can offer you Durham hospitality if this would ease and take pressure off you . I know what it is too feel too overwhelmed. I live a half hour away from the hospital, 10 minutes from the airport. I m a stay at home wife/mom so I m free till 330.( and with notice I m free all day). oh the other priority is my surgery its on the 31st. So Let me know what you need, I can pick you up at the airport, get you situated in hotel or such and get you familiar with Durham if you feel you need too. Its not a majot metropolitan here and directions are quite simple. Let me know if you need a friend who will help you. When is your surgery? warm wishes! GOD BLESS! I sat on a plateau for 2 weeks already, but have started aqua aerobics 3x weekly plus lap swimming and walking. And I walk 3x a week with an exercise therapist - plus stationary bike. My PCP saw me last to check my blood work and give me a B12 shot - thought I had lost alot more weight because I am losing inches. Best part is that I was on 5 BP meds daily preop and am down to 1 diuretic for another month or so before I'm weaned off (and I drink my diuretic tea Mo-Fr). So I am healthier - just was hoping the weight would melt away a little faster!!! Oh well - it is going the right direction and it has been a long time since I lost that kind of weight in 2 months - plus it should STAY off now, right? BUT I will not smoke at all after Rick comes home from surgery. He is still smoking trying to cut back but losing ground. We promised no more after surgery. His last day was supposed to be last Wed for my surgery. We extended it one more week for him. The most I smoke now is three a day. This is so hard especially when I'm stressed. But I'm trying. Guest guest Posted May 18, 2000 Report Share Posted May 18, 2000 Trish, I came in on the tail end of Wednesday's post op's.(some had already been discharged) Dr. R expained to me what happened to a gentleman who they were not going to do surgery on him. Everytime they laid the bed flat his pressure would rise. Then it went back down when he was lifted......They did go ahead with surgery......... Dr. R said he was fine and I belive Dee Dee said he had left, I never saw him but I wasnt on the floor til 1pm. For sure though Dr. R said he was great and **OH***Dee Dee told me they gave him saline soulution and his pressure stabilized.--- Sorry I cant recall anymore info. I know Donna had nausa but was long gone by 10:00 am. To me, this is such an important life decision that was'nt entered into lightly by any of us, that, the bond that hold us together is so strong, and the people we went thru this with are so important......that meeting these people face to face .....will be so gratifying and give me a great sense of completion to this whole process.
