Some CMTers are tormented by severe cramps, too. Every few years my spine gets cranky and I'm reminded of how difficult it is to have acute pain caused by simply moving. Guest guest Report post Posted May 27, 2000 Hi , Up until a year ago the only CMT pain I had was foot pain. And I only got this when standing on my feet too long. Way back when I was a teen, I guess the muscle cramping was a type of pain. The only joint pain I have had was with Rhumatic Fever in 1977 and that left as quicky as it came. Other than that, last summer I had 'electrical' type surges through my entire body, now completely gone with the help of Neurontin. For me, muscle, nerve, joint pain all has different 'feeling'. Guest guest Report post Posted May 2, 2002 Dear Jang, Thank-you for posting the nurse's threads. I found their posts helpful as I am cared for in the ER and hospital for pain. I found my day nurses were always more accepting of my pain and my night nurses would withhold pain meds. I was told that was because the less desirable nurses got the crummy night shifts. I would always ask when my " good " nurse's shift ended so I could make sure I got the maximum pain meds before she/he left. My dr. never prescribes a pump, so I am always at the mercy of the nurses' whim as to giving me pain meds. As a result my duodenum is obstructed 80%. I'm sure it adds to the pain. I like it but after about 3 months or so the effect begins to wear off and you will need to up the dosage. Any questions, just email me. Thanks. Guest guest Report post Posted August 21, 2002 Bruce, I use duragesic patches. I also have loritab and oxy for breakthrough pain. The duragesic patch is wonderful. The pain doesn't get out of control just because you fall asleep. You have a continuous dose of medication being absorbed through the skin.
