A few days ago I discussed only nerve pain because that is what I have, but

I'm well aware of the terrible structural pain many CMTers have from the

stress on their joints and muscles. Some CMTers are tormented by severe

cramps, too.

Every few years my spine gets cranky and I'm reminded of how difficult it is

to have acute pain caused by simply moving.

CMT clearly causes many types of pain.

About 50% of CMTers don't have CMT pain. I guess those are the only ones

some doctors talk to.

Hi ,

Up until a year ago the only CMT pain I had was foot pain. And I only

got this when standing on my feet too long. Way back when I was a teen,

I guess the muscle cramping was a type of pain. The only joint pain I

have had was with Rhumatic Fever in 1977 and that left as quicky as it

came. Other than that, last summer I had 'electrical' type surges

through my entire body, now completely gone with the help of Neurontin.

For me, muscle, nerve, joint pain all has different 'feeling'.

Dear Jang,

Thank-you for posting the nurse's threads. I found their posts helpful as I

am cared for in the ER and hospital for pain. I found my day nurses were

always more accepting of my pain and my night nurses would withhold pain

meds. I was told that was because the less desirable nurses got the crummy

night shifts. I would always ask when my " good " nurse's shift ended so I

could make sure I got the maximum pain meds before she/he left. My dr. never

prescribes a pump, so I am always at the mercy of the nurses' whim as to

giving me pain meds. My experiences are from 15 hospitalizations in the last

three years - all at the same ER and hospital.

Cass, Hi,hope your doing well. In my case I have severe scarring, one area

is about the size of a golfball and pushing in the direction of my duodenum.

As a result my duodenum is obstructed 80%. I'm sure it adds to the pain.

I use the 50 mg patch. I change it every 72 hours. I like it but after about 3

months or so the effect begins to wear off and you will need to up the dosage.

Any questions, just email me. Thanks.

Has anybody used the Duragesic patch for there pain? How did it work

for you?

Thank you

-Hi Bruce,

The Dr's tried the duragesic patch when I was in the hospital but

it didn't work for me. Also I broke out from it so they finally

discontinued it's use.

Bruce,

I use duragesic patches. I also have loritab and oxy

for breakthrough pain. The duragesic patch is

wonderful. The pain doesn't get out of control just

because you fall asleep. You have a continuous dose of

medication being absorbed through the skin.
