Tomorrow I'm going in for my abd cerclage. It's been about 5 weeks from my delivery and we're doing it pre-pregnancy. I'm not feeling overly positive because by doctor said that I have the worst cervix he's ever seen. I know that the AC is very successful, however I'm hesitant to get too excited.

Paige,

Best of luck tomorrow....I'll be thinking about you! Let us know how you do, once you are up and about ...and feeling better.

Hi Paige and a sad welcome to the group. (((((HUGS))))) for the loss of

your little boy. Unfortunately we all know what you are feeling right now.

I also have one miracle daughter born at 28w3d after having an emergency

cerclage at 18w4d because I was 2.5cm dilated. She turned 3 in March and

has no lasting effects from being so prem (besides a bit of low muscle tone,

but then I have that and I wasn't even prem). I too lost a baby boy last

year June at 15w. I had a cerclage put in at 12w but have a dynamic cervix,

plus got a very irritated uterus. I went into full labor and PROMed. I have

also had my ab cerc placed pre-pg in April this year and am now ttc.

Did they do infection testing during your second pg? Possibly with you PROMing

so early there was an infection that caused it?

Best of luck for your surgery today and we hope to hear from you as soon

as you are able. Please let me know where you are and who is doing your surgery.

I am compiling a database of all doctors that do the abdominals in an effort

to try and help others that are looking for doctors.

Blessings

Hi

I am 34 and have been a high risk labor & delivery nurse for 4

years. I've seen too many second trimester losses and always hoped that

it would never happen to me.

I was (what I thought) being overly anxious with my first pregnancy

and asked for serial cervical length ultrasounds. Because I knew my OB from

work and because of my past LEEP procedure, they started the cervical lengths

at 11 weeks...at 16.5 weeks I had funneling and at 17 weeks they put in

a rescue vaginal cerclage. I was on flat bedrest the remainder of my pregnancy

(including 5 weeks in the hospital lying with my hips up). We made it to

31 weeks and have a beautiful, healthy baby girl who is turning 2 next week.

Second pregnancy was a miscarriage at 11 weeks.

Third pregnancy was the nightmare that I had hoped would never happen

to me. At 12 weeks, my OB put in what he called the "best cerclage" he's

ever done. He pushed back my bladder and got in 2 good stitches in very

high up. My cervical length went from 1.5 cm before the stitch to 2.9 cm

with the cerclage. But at 18 weeks I started leaking amniotic fluid. On

7/25/03 I delivered a 20 week little boy who lived about 30 minutes ().

Tomorrow I'm going in for my abd cerclage. It's been about 5 weeks

from my delivery and we're doing it pre-pregnancy. I'm not feeling overly

positive because by doctor said that I have the worst cervix he's ever seen.

I know that the AC is very successful, however I'm hesitant to get too excited.

I just did a search on abd cerclages and found this support group.

Reading the posts from this group makes me feel better - you've all

been there before and there seems to be alot of great outcomes. We'll see

if I'm as lucky.

I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your losses. I hope your

surgery goes well today. I too have a terrible cervix, extremely weak and a

little short. My cervix started to shorten and dilate by 12 weeks in my

pregnancies. I was on bedrest with the ab cerclage and had some funnelling

try to happen when my upper internal cervix stil tried to open with the AC.

But I made it to 35.5 weeks. They did replace my AC during my c-section

because I had dilated with it in place and they wanted to be sure I was

ready for any future pregnancies without having to have surgery again.
