Guest guest
Bouncing Message: If messages sent to you, as a member, are consistently returned to Yahoo! Groups with an error, you are considered " Bouncing " . The usual reason for being placed in BOUNCING status is an inbox that has exceeded its limit. Common in mail services like Yahoo, Excite, Hotmail, and other " free " mail servers. Their usual limit is somewhere between 3-6 MB of storage for your mail. Another reason for bouncing is not accessing your (often free) email account for a long prior of time (45 - 90 days) and therefore the account is automatically de-activated by the provider as stated in their conditions. Bouncing status also removes your name from the active member list, thereby denying you any more emails. Even if your e-mail preference = " No Email " for certain groups, since if you bounce from ANY YAHOO GROUP, you are put on bouncing status FOR ALL THE YAHOO GROUPS TO WHICH YOU BELONG. Once an account is considered bouncing, Yahoo! Groups will send a series of test messages to the member. If the test messages are returned as undeliverable, then the account will continue to bounce. However, if a message is delivered and not returned as undeliverable within five days after it was sent, the account will automatically be reactivated. Automatic Reactivation: As mentioned in above section Yahoo! Groups periodically sends automated test ( " probe " ) messages to bouncing members. If a test message is not returned to Yahoo! Groups with an error, we assume the message was successfully delivered and automatically reactivate the member's account. This process does not require any action by the moderator or member.
