Guest guest
I have seen people recommend carrying tubes of frosting for low blood sugars and I am curious. Do you mean those little tubes of colour gel you use to write on a cake? Frosting, in my mind, comes in a can... It seems like a very clever idea. But does anyone know how many carbs are in the tube? Otherwise I wouldn't know how much to eat to bring up my BGs correctly. Thanks,
Guest guest
I've only seen this recommendation made for those who are on insulin or have another condition that can cause their bg to go very low very fast and pass out. I've given my mother instructions for squirting the tube icing (regular icing comes in a tube as well as the small tubes of gel-type for decorating) into my diabetic Dad's mouth if she finds him unconscious or unable to drink some juice and then call 911. With bg so low that he passes out, I don't think she is concerned about giving him too much carb-wise. I don't use icing for my " regular " lows which seldom go below 40 and, so far, I am aware of my bg going low and test to know how much juice to drink. Guest guest
Hi, , there should be nutrition information on the tube, and it will give you serving size, what you are aiming for when trying to get your sugars up, is you want to do it quick, and want to have between 15 to 25 Carbs...
