Guest guest
Jill asked me to share this correspondence with the rest of the group....for what it is worth. ---------- From: Ann Cianflone[sMTP:ann@...] Sent: Thursday, February 18, 1999 11:04 AM To: 'Jill Gunzel' Subject: Rutin Dear Jill: I always enjoy your postings on Jodi's rls e-line. I am so glad you are there! Thought you'd like some " feedback " on the rutin so here goes if you can stand a little backtracking. Two years ago I developed angina and went for chelation therapy. It took about 28 treatments over 4 months before I wasn't in pain. In the meantime I delved into the (health) books; started taking the usual vitamin e, co- enzyme 10, L-carnitine and magnesium as well as the multi-vitamins but in the course of my reading I came across a book by Dr. Hans Nieper of Germany who recommended enzymes for angina, in particular a complex called " Wobenzyme " and I added it to my collection. Once the angina ceased I stopped the Wobenzyme because it was pretty expensive. Over the Christmas holidays, out of the blue I had a whole day of the angina again and went back on the wobenzyme and the angina stopped. I noticed at the same time, that the rls was considerably alleviated-not gone-but definitely improved. I attributed it to the enzyme formula until I read your posting about rutin and looking at the label of my enzyme complex, lo and behold each tablet contains 50 mgs of rutin! For angina I have been taking the recommended 15 tabs a day divided into 3 portions which means I had been taking 750 mgs a day plus the 10 mgs in my multi-vitamin for a total of 760 mgs of rutin daily. Yesterday I bought a bottle of rutin Country Life brand, 500 mgs to add to my arsenal. Last night before going to bed I popped one of the 500 mg tabs. Result: absolutely no rls, not even a twitch! Wow! That means though that I had actually consumed 1,260 mgs of rutin or a little more than 1 and a quarter grams in one day. You know how we all hesitate to say we've found the solution to rls because we never know when it will fail but I'll keep going on this formula and I'll let you know if it continues to offer me rls-free nights. And thanks for that posting. Regards, Ann Cianflone

Guest guest
I just looked up rutin: http://www.phytochemicals.info/phytochemicals/rutin.php and I guess the concern would be that it has some disaccharide in it, but then, like the polysaccharides, a lot of plants do. I am not sure the amount of disaccharide in a small amount of rutin in a pill with other stuff would be a problem. I don't think it would be for me, anyhow. I have used Freeda vitamins for years. I have never had a problem with them. They seem to work hard to have them quite pure.

Guest guest
I have, but I'm looking to replace them. I have a hard time swallowing the Freeda pills for some reason (I end up choking on them half the time), and chewing them is just nasty. Thanks anyway :-). Holly > > > > Over at pecanbread, I asked them to verify that a multi-vitamin was legal ( http://www.vitacost.com/Natures-Way-Multi-Vitamin-Iron-Free-Formula ). They said the rutin in it was questionable. In my search for an affordable multi (under $30 a month), the only legal ones I've found have all contained rutin. Has anyone ever used a supplement that contains this? Did you feel it affected you in a negative way? > > > > Holly > > Crohn's > > SCD 12/01/08 > > >

Guest guest
Thanks :-). An interesting read. My only complaint about the Freeda vitamins is that I have trouble swallowing them. I was looking for a replacement that used capsules.
