Hi,I have tried most of the low-carb breads and most taste like you are forever

chewing on a sponge. My personal preference is the adkins bread that I buy in

the frozen section of Healthway (health food store) in the DC area. It is

really good toasted.BJ in Va.

But I'm thinking ahead. Who makes low carb bread? I would

appreciate an answer from someone. I also posted this on the

Pittsburgh site but haven't got a response yet.

Thanks, Arlene

I Buy the " food for life " brand and I think that its pretty good, But Than

again I don't eat regular bread. It is a good Substitute, and it freezes up

well. here is a link.. http://foodforlife.com/summary.asp?cat=26

I used blue cross and I had no problems with them, It might be your Dr

Office that is your delay. just keep checking back.

Good Luck

>>> Who knows if my lousy blue cross will eventually approve surgery. <<<

I am blue cross and called daily after my surgeon faxed my info... I was

approved in 4 days. The squeaky wheel gets greased I'm thinking... bug

I'm...

>>> But I'm thinking ahead. Who makes low carb bread? <<<<

Ms. Beards makes sugar free whole wheat with (I think) 11 carbs in a

slice and it is full of nuts and grains... doesn't taste much like white

bread as I remember it but will do in the times when ya' just have to have 1

slice of toast or some such times. The regular grocery stores should have

it.

>> Dr. Atkins makes Low Carb bread mix..you can use your

bread machine or oven to make it.

I've made the Atkins bread mix in the machine, and it was a terrible

texture, just a big sponge, hard to cut and impossible to chew even toasted.

I have another box of the mix, and I'm thinking I may try making it into

dinner rolls or something, because it just isn't " bread. " The Atkins quick

bread and muffin mixes are quite good, but pricey. The Atkins pancakes, when

you haven't had a pancake in 2 or 3 years, are yummy -- more of a texture

like a crepe, but still good.

There is a pretty decent lo-carb bread called Joe Bread, and I found it in

the freezer at one of the local groceries. It's also got a bit of a spongy

texture, but it makes good toast, if I'm really in the mood for an egg on

toast, and I think it only has 2 or 3 carbs per slice.

hi all iam a type 2 i was first told i was in 1970 and things sure

have changed since then . i was told i was a borderline but i was

placedon ornaise three per day needlessto say that made me feel

really bad lightheaded fuzzy and all that so i went off those meds

and just did what else the doc told me dont eat sweets. didnt go back

to the doc for a long time cause i felt fine started gaining weight

over the years went though two pregnacy with no problem at all

because i watch my diet close because i knew this was lurking in my

background well it finally caught up with me i ended on three pills

per when i decied to do something about this i went to the libary and

checked out books on low carb eating the one that worked the best for

me was eating very low carb morning and lunch and more carbs for

dinner i was averaging about 60 carbs per day and of course checking

my blood sugars at least 3 times per day or more i lost 40 lbs and

gradulity went off i med and then one more i am not taking any meds

right now and i average about 100 or slightly more grams of carbs per

day . i will probaly have to go back on some meds eventually but as

long as i dont eat alot of cabs i can keep that down to 1/2 a pill

per day. of course this would not work for a type 1 but i think it

might for some type twos but you do have to moniter your blood sugars

closey when you do this . i am not telling anyone to do this but just

sharing the facts with you i have no complication with eating this

way but not that iam mainting my weight i do spread my carbs out more

because i dont have all the carving i had before . please forgive me

for taking up so much space i just wanted to share this my last ac

was 5.5 clos was 179 .
