Cathy,

It's very possible that Kim needs to water down her juices. I know the sugar

in juice make me nauseas. Also, she should have gotten some meds (a

perscription) in her discharge package for nausea. I recommend it! I didn't

need it newly post-op, but it definitely got me though this past week with

the stomach bug!

She's in my prayers!

I'm not familiar with the laws in Canada, but I understand they are similar to

the USA. In the USA, even if your old job does not exist, your employer is

required to place you in a job that you can perform--so the fact that your old

job does not exist should NOT prevent you from returning to work. They can even

provide you a job with less pay and responsiblity--but they must offer you a

job.

Sometimes you have to go back to work in order to demonstrate that you can't

work. Not the best situation, but that is reality, in some cases.

Stella,

Our son did not sit up until he was 1 year old. He didn't walk until

17 months old and didn't crawl until he was about 2 1/2 yrs. old

(must admit when he finally did it, it brought a tear to my eye even

though he was walking for a year already!).

I am not familiar with a regional center. Do you live in the U.S.?

If so, I would really recommend appealing to get your daughter PT

through your 0-3 program (Early Intervention). In our county your

child needs a 25% delay in a given area or just a diagnosis with a

probability of a delay. So, Jake was covered either way. When he

turned 2 1/2 we pulled him from Early Intervention and put him in

special education preschool and he received his therapies there.

While he made huge improvements in most areas (ie. speech, trying new

foods and the ability to cut the umbilical cord from Mom) his PT

progress has been minimal. We just decided to add private PT through

our insurance company. They actually cut his PT services in school

because they don't feel his delays are significant or slowing his

ability to be educated. He is NOT anywhere close to be able to do

what his same age peers can do (ie. run, jump, climb effortlessly).

I think our Early Intervention program did a fabulous job with his

PT. He received one our a week of one on one therapy. I definitely

recommend it.

Best wishes,

Alison

To la's mom - Here in Los Angeles, the early intervention

services are provided through what we call " Regional Centers. " They

are known for having VERY TIGHT guidelines, due to lack of funds.

It is absolutely ridiculous that they are discontinuing services due

to orthopedic impairment. It is clear that they do not understand

why an RSS child's motor development issues may be impaired (unless

your child does have major orthopedic issues that we don't know

about?)

Have you provided the Regional Center with the MAGIC literature on

RSS, like the blue RSS brochure? I would be happy to speak with

them, as would Katy, I am sure. We aren't doctors, but we can make

sure that they know we aren't medical personnel - just reps from

MAGIC.

Keep us posted. Salem

Misti, please don't get mad at me for being blunt. First of all, 29lbs in a

month is wonderful! Before surgery, I bet you wouldn't have been able to say

that. Now, if the doctor told you to stay on liquids for a certain amount of

time, why didn't you? You can't expect this tool to work if you abuse it.

Don't think you got the short end of the stick due to the amount of

intestine bypassed. You have to work with the tool for it to work. It doesn

t matter if they bypassed 10cm or 300cm if you aren't going to follow the

rules and follow the doctor's orders. You're worried about " im going to be

the horror story u hear where someone only loses 40

pounds with this surgery " . Well, you will be if you continue to disregard

the doctor's advice and all the rules that you are supposed to be following.

This surgery is NOT a quick fix. I really think you need to sit down and do

tons of research and get yourself in gear.

http://www.gastricbypassfamily.com/PouchRules.html

Go there, read that. And do more research. www.gastricbypassfamily.com has

tons of infomation for you. So does www.obesityhelp.com

Good luck, and I really do hope you get back on track. I'm sorry if I upset

you by being blunt.

I had spotting a slight bleeding and still had a healthy pregnancy before. I

bled for a straight week in my 2nd month with my twins a bright red blood and

did not even know I was prego because of it, thought it was my period. So yes,

a baby is till possible. Take a test and if you still do not start go to your

doc for bloodwork to see for sure. Good Luck,

I have always been told that if a pregnancy test comes up positive you are

pregnant. I have only heard of false negatives. Although, I do remember hearing

once that certain antibiotics can produce false-positive results on a pregnancy

test. I don't know if that is true or not. I am pretty sure that if you took a

pregnancy test and it was positive, that you are pregnant. I would call the Dr.

for a blood test. I hope you get the results you are looking for.

Best wishes,

When I got pregnant last July, I took a pregnancy test when I was 2 days late

and it came up negative so instead of taking another test I waited and called

the doctors office and explained that at that point I was almost a week late and

they sent me for a blood test which came up positive. Unfortunately, I lost that

pregnancy of triplets but when I got pregnant in November, the test came up

positive and I was three days late at that point. I would call the doctors if

you still haven't gotten your period to get a blood test. Best wishes to you!!

I did. When I was 15 months post-op I got pregnant with my second child. I

kept taking home pregnancy tests and they were negative. After 10 weeks I

called my Dr. and went in for a blood test and it was positive. I went home and

did another home test and it was still negative.
