I feel extraordinarily lucky to have this much freedom. When I took shots I felt trapped by the highs and lows every day, feeding the insulin instead of my body. And I frequently had crashing lows where I'd hear funny sounds and nearly pass out. Three times I lost my vision during a bad low. Hi , I understand the shaking and crashing lows. I am a type two, but when the dr put me on glyburide, I had horrible lows! I switched to metformin, and have had no more problems. I am very grateful, because I learned about metformin on another list and asked my doctor for it, by name. This is an important part of what these lists are for. Others have gone before, learned, and shared their experiences. God Bless their willingness to share! When I was taking MDIs, I had to stick to eating about the same amount every day. But I would cheat and take extra insulin for treats and snacks and bigger meals, etc. Or less insulin if I wasn't hungry. I used to have Hba1c's around 7.5% Now my Hba1c's average around 6.0, without daily crashes! I am forever thankful. I wish all type 1's (and the type 2's on insulin) could have these pumps. I have heard so much about them, and have a few good friends with them. They love their freedom! Hugs, Marilyn Marilyn Moderator for Diabetic_Recipes dnevessr@...
