Guest guest
That's so true, . I didn't mean to sound like I didn't love my country. The United States was founded as a place where God is cherished and where we can have religious freedom. I love the freedom we have and pray that we will keep being free to worship God as we wish. That makes up for any problems we have with the cost of medicine. Lota
Guest guest
I don't know if it is the norm, but when given my meter by the nurse I wasn't offered any alcohol wipes. I'm in England. Wouldn't parsnips be worse for you the potato? They are sweeter than the humble spud. I guess you will all have the face the facts of life. You have to move to Great Britain, where all your medical needs if you are a diabetic are met for free. This includes all meds, eye examinations, feet checking, testing strips (although they are getting a tad mean wth the amount you can have if you are type 2), meters, and lancets. Just call yourself an aslyum seeker and fleeing from a despot ruler and hey presto! Free house and money! The weather sucks though. lol ___________________________________________________________ALL-NEW Yahoo! Guest guest
Gloria, I sure hope something can be done about the problem soon. I'm on Medicare but I don't qualify for that card that older people get because I have insurance that pays part of my medicine bills but I've heard that medicine went up enough that the card don't do any good. Something else has to be done. I sure hope President Bush sees that because I sure don't want Kerry to go in no matter what he could do for the medicine problem. Guest guest
Hi Lota, I am in the same boat. I have a job and insurance but yet still cannot always get my medicines because it is too expensive. Unfortunately this past year has been a really rough one for me. Hopefully, things get better soon. As for the elderly, you are right. I work for the state and see that a lot in our office. It is a darn shame. Gloria Lotagibson@... wrote: We in the United States are blessed in many ways but not in our medical system. Many older people have to choose between having enough good healthy food to eat or buying their medicine. I have good insurance but still have to pay a lot out for medicine and the insurance pays for less and less as time goes on. Lota
Guest guest
You got that right. Well, we will all just have to pray and/or vote the way each of us feel we need to. Guest guest
I understand completely Rach. We can love our country knowing that it's not perfect. There's a lot of things that need changing but she's ours and we love her just like she is, warts and all.
Guest guest
guys, i hope this doesn't come off wrong...i agree, i love my country, the U.S.; i believe in the great american experiment; and this isn't a board for socio-economic politics...but since this is all diabetic international, i am feeling a need to say something today. the U.S. may be god's gift to us as citizens, but we're not always god's gift to everybody else. i have some family in the west indies, and i thought about moving there because of it. never have and that's partly because my education is meant for a social system of highly-divided, specialized labor. i'd be a pretty useless person there, but that's not because the west indies is *backward.* it's a terrible thing to say, but it's been a humiliating experience to see my fellow americans come down and cry because for lack of a t.v. it's also been shameful to watch folk americanize the landscape by doing things like turning tropical forest into desert to build tract housing. that's been devasting not just aesthetically, but also environmentally and subsequently economically - it's created drought. there are other things, like interfering in the local economy and making it pretty darn impossible for locals to own one of those tract homes. we're very giving, i think, but sometimes we give too much...anyways, i want to say it has been humbling to have the opportunity of extended travel...and i think it's probably been a good thing. rach > That's so true, .
