Anybody with experience in billing Tricare out there (it seems recently I saw a few posts on this subject)? Do I need prior authorization? Are there any special coding, treatment or diagnosis, necessary on the HCFA form? Etc...any help/advice is appreciated. The patient's husband is active duty. J. Holzapfel, D.C. If I recall (seems to be harder to do lately) we billed in same manner as everyone else. If he is National Gaurd and in the 1249th might be a little while for the paper work to catch up. Does anyone know why Tricare reimburses for chiropractic care for some covered active duty personel and their dependents but not for others. My patients have Tricare Prime. Anyone?? Thanks... J. Yesterday we did the casting, and are now just waiting for the band to come in. When we first went in to the doctor and CT, they both informed us that Tricare would not pay for the band. Rather than wait for a paper denial, we went ahead and paid out of pocket. My husband is deploying next month and wanted to be here to help decorate her band before he leaves. I figured we would try to fight for reimbursement after the fact. So my question is...has anyone had success in Tricare paying for their band, even a percentage? Did you have to file appeals, or approved up front? If you paid up front, did you have any success in reimbursement? We decided that it was worth the money to get her banded, but would like to try and get some money back. Any information would be sooo helpful!!! Thanks in advance! I received my denial from Tricare rather quickly. However, my husband and I went ahead and got our daughter a helmet. I have not heard of anyone that got Tricare to pay...I mean when the situation is solely Tricare Prime insurance...not standard. I am not sure I will appeal the decision as I am just so busy, but if you have success please pass it on. I wish you and your hubby the best. Guest guest Posted October 19, 2007 Report Share Posted October 19, 2007 Our daughter had 3 helmets tricare paid for and its was because of the coding that was used for the durable medical equipment. She did however have severe plagio with developmentaly delays and various other things. She ended up having neurosurgery and they took out 1/4 of her skull and put in 7 plates. She had facial asymetry that was really bad. After her surgery due to torticollis not resolved she had to have another helmet. The only patient ever to get to a helmet at 2 years old here at Ft Sam only because her plates were becoming abnormal. We got the order and she had a helmet in two weeks it was amazing. Any questions or help I would love to help. I am sorry that they allow some and not others. I feel bad even saying he got 3 however I did not want you to drop it. You need to appeal as I bet you will get it approved. I hope any of this helps.
