Marilyn,

I totally agree with you about not being able to erase our previous

behavior. I have had DM since I was 6, 47 yrs. When I first was diagnosed

the ADA diet was much different and it has changed several times over the

years. Lots of what they have found harmful for DMers was we were told to

eat back then.

Having been a type 2 diabetic for over 35 years ans in good control

for all those years, I feel I have been sucessful with my eating,

exercising and medicine programs. Just completed a stress test and

was told I had a heart of an 18 year old which isn't half bad for a

71 year old. My HbA1c is 6.3 and I keep my readoings very close to

100 on the average. I do have some highs and lows and usually for no

ascertainable reason. I do workout 3 times/week, play golf and

travel all over the world.

I have never dieted per say as I just mad a complete life styly

change when diagnosed. I eat everything that is healthy but also

tasted good. I keep portions small and eat 4 times a day. I let no

one tell me what or how to do things and I experiment much. I also

keep good records.

I also post in many diabetes support groups as I am researching all

the time and some of these are recipes that are for diabetics.

There is no reason for anyone to attact anybody's posts and become

personal even if they don't agree with the subject. Just because I

post something doesn't mean I agree with it but post it for

everyone's information to do with as they please. I welcome all

information that anyone has to offer.

A handfull of nuts everyday is good for anyone and diabetics in

particular. The diet gurus are making money but I don't think they

are really helping the health of many. Low carbs/high fats or high

carbs/low fats makes no sense to me as I think a balanced meal is

good for everybody. I eat potatoes as they have no more calories

than a same size apple and 5 times the food value and I like them. I

can see no reason to deny myself from enjoying food just because

someone is promoting some diet.

Good luck to all of you,

Happy Irishman

Hi Marilyn,

Perhaps this is a bit off topic for the diabetes group, but there are

two methods to reverse the damage of arthritis that will probably

interest about 1/3 of the people:

1) an anti-aging program that has an HGH increaser as a component.

I've seen this work especially if the peron is following a good

nutritional regime. Of note here is that it also reverses syndrome X

and the anti-aging doctors say, diabetes II responds particularly

well. The principle is that as the body becomes more youthful all of

the organs and glands heal and their outputs fall into line, the

pancreas included.

2) direct focus on regenerating cartilage with organic or synthetic

CMO, cetyl-myristoleate, which is a estrified oil. A two or three

month program is usually adequate for regenerating cartilage that

will last for years. Some of my clients who had already had some knee

surgery have not needed their knee braces for almost five years; one

gave her wheelchair back to the REd Cross. These people can walk

tails, stairs, the whole thing without pain.

The combination of the two works very well indeed. The second one is

a shorter plan that has a money back guarantee.

regards,

Duncan Crow
