She is just a " nutcase " with a vendetta against WLS. She is very

mis-informed and spews her misinformation at the drop of a hat. She is a

" fat activist " and is best just ignored in my humble opinion.

I did write to her, recently asking her to lighten up as she was scaring some

pre-ops who really needed this surgery to have a new lease on life, but it

feel on deaf ears I am sure, although she did write back to me.

Still all in all, with almost 100,000 WLS a year, I do not think her biased

view is hurting the cause all that much and I told her so. I think she

monitors this board and other WLS online support groups. So for her benefit

I say.... " Hello Sue...get a life hon " .

Ceep , it is very sad . . . I hate to see peoples words and experiences

twisted in to what she wants people to read and believe . . .I really don't

understand what her real agenda is????

Hope you are doing well Vicki. I know you are busy with your Dad and family

and business. Me also...

If this is the lady I am thinking of, I would guess, wouldn't you, that she

has a committment to an ideal, that is, " big size is good " , However, she

seems like she may have sloshed over from admiring an ideal into identifying

with such, (very dangerous, even when it is God) so that when the ideal is

threatened, she feels threatened too, as though she will have no self left...

for she thinks she IS the ideal, instead of realizing she is just a devotee

of/to it. I would imagine her real agenda is the onoing and not quite

sucessful attempt to create a selfhood. That the carrying on about GB and

other items is quite secondary to the shoring up of the sense of a core

self---the latter perhaps often not going too well.

I do understand sounding alarms about bad treatments and phony interventions.

What she does seems more about her than about a concern about the welfare of

others. For myself, my interest is realy in seeing if there can be more

research of post-op conditions. I know someone has done short term research,

I wonder who did those and if they are doing longevity studies.

all best

Have to join here, telling you, you need to contact your health care

I tend to have to agree with you on this one.  Most get little to NO pt contact

in the back of the box, even on return trips back to nursing homes, the medic is

riding that call also.  No matter what level you are, if you don't use your

skills you loose them, even at the EMT level.  I've been in one place where the

medic took all calls, told management they were nuts and left.

I believe that when medics ride all calls the emt loses his continual assessment

skills critical to their career. I am a paramedic and have been almost nine

years and although I work in a 911 city service where 10 calls is a good day

usually more and we ride all calls i believe em ta lose skills. Just an

opinion.

It amazes me how simple things like the use, or non-use, of a nickname can

generate so much debate. Yet important topics such as the one the Gene was

generous to supply has gone virtually untouched.

Your title is not what makes you a better medical provider, your knowledge base

does.

I completely agree, but that is a bit contradictory. Your knowledge base comes

from education. Most EMT-Bs have none, unless they are in the minority who

pursue formal education (not merit badges) outside of EMT school.

Sorry but is it not a common saying basics save paramedics. We all started

somewhere and we all have a wish to someday be that professional service

that is reconignized, respected, and paid appropriated. Now here we sit

reading each other slamming it out. Come on. Remember the roots of us.

We all grew and learned as we went along. Can't we all just get along?
