She also had high aluminum. Hi , I had the same problem, and using the protocol in Ann Louise Gittleman's book had alot of success. Why Am I Always so Tired? Discover How Correcting Your Body's Copper Imbalance Can.... ISBN 006-2515942 $14 US -- can probably order it thru Amazon.com Its basically a vitamin/mineral regime fine-tuned. In 6 mos my copper and zinc levels were normalized, and I started to dump lead and cadmium. Mind you, I am on a well-chosen homeopathic remedy as well, but this was the first time I could tolerate the supplementation to get at this. Am using high quality Thorne supplements to do it (mostly citrate based). The aluminum levels are down only a bit, but its probably because I drink alot of tea (and tea has high aluminum). Am working on this intense craving -- wanting the acid in the tea. Hope this helps, Joyce
Guest guest
Joyce Thanks so much. I'll order the book and read up. I am hoping that just a regime of the right stuff will help and that it isn't something permanent like 's syndrome. what is the well chosen homeopathic? Also, did you do the homeopathic first and them the vitamin and mineral regime? Or the vitamins and minerals first? --- J Laidlaw r.laidlaw@...> wrote: > >I recently had a hair analysis and my daughter did > too. > >The copper content of her hair was off the chart. > according to the > >chart the ideal in in the range of 1.5 to 3.25 and > her level was > >26.2. Guest guest
Hi Joyce Where did you find that tea is high in aluminum? I've read it has fluoride but never aluminum. I am a tea lover also. My aluminum levels were low. Chantal Re: Copper Joyce Thanks so much. I'll order the book and read up. I drink only organic tea, but am sure it will still lock onto any aluminum and flouride in the ground. Warm regards, Joyce
Guest guest
>what is the well chosen homeopathic? Also, did you >do the homeopathic first and them the vitamin and >mineral regime? > Or the vitamins and minerals first? > > Hi Homeopathy is difficult for alot of people to understand, as the remedies are not chosen in the manner herbs, drugs, supplements are (ie take this for that condition). Homeopathy is based on the natural law of " like cures like " , hence a remedy is found that contains the closest match to your most peculiar and characteristic symptoms. A homeopath is more interested in what makes the way you manifest copper excess different than someone else. Hence common symptoms aren't as useful. The homeopath uses ALL your symptoms and complaints, (even peculiarities like the fact I feel best sitting with my feet up....) mental, emotional and physical to choose a remedy. So what works for me will most likely not work for you. I've also been through a series of remedies, partly because of what is called 'dissimilar disease' (more than one 'homeopathically-defined disease' present), and because I'm so sensitive. I'll respond to anything you stick in my mouth, so it sometimes takes a bit to discern if its acting only palliatively or partially or really curatively. A well-trained homeopath is essential, and a real gift. Homeopathy has saved my life, and is at the core of my healing process. I can start the process of metal detox on its own, but like in my case, I was starved for certain minerals that had to be taken in excess to help move them out. This is where a nutritionally oriented doctor and Gittleman and hair analysis/etc helped. For some the supplementation may be enough. For me it wasn't. Hope this helps a bit. This is discussed from time to time on the autism-mercury list, since ALA tends to reduce copper excretion (and thus tends to increase copper levels). I've been taking ALA (as a chelator) since Jan 2000, and took zinc for part of that time as well. My hair copper level went down slightly (from about 26 [high normal] to 16 [exactly 50% on DDI's scale]). And I'm really very flakey about taking pills--- I probably actually only TOOK the zinc < 1/2 the time. I just tonight wrote a post to the autism-mercury list as well. You might try doing a search there on " copper " just for the heck of it. And there is at least one post on copper in this file (look under chelation agents): http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/files/ANDY_INDEX best, Moria
Guest guest
Moria, Thanks for the link. There was some interesting information there. I had read about the zinc supplements as a possible way to help reduce the copper. Avery also has high zinc but not above the normal range. I am wondering what too much zinc does. But I have started the zinc anyway. --- moriam@... wrote: > > I recently had a hair analysis and my daughter did > too. > > The copper content of her hair was off the chart. > according to the > > chart the ideal in in the range of 1.5 to 3.25 and > her level was > > 26.2. Amalgams contain copper and when I had problems with my amalgams my blood tested high for copper but not mercury. I'm not sure if a hair test would've shown high copper only. Another source is copper pipes. Sometimes they develop pinhole leaks. There was an article in the Washington Post about this about a year ago. Someone from my old highschool and their dad actually came down with copper posioning which was eventually traced to the pipes in the house. cz
Guest guest
Most copper is excreted through the bile. Taurine, milk thistle, glycine and lecithin increase bile flow. They should be given several times a day. Zinc and molybdenum inhibit the absorption of copper. They should also be given several times a day for this purpose. Between the two approaches, normal healthy copper levels should prevail in a few months.
