I see the doctor's practice nurse this afternoon after a wait of 3 weeks. Thankfully she is a trained diabetic nurse, so hopefully I can get some information from her. Do I sound whinging? Sorry, but I guess I have the 'newbie blues'. Carol Hi Carol, this makes me sad. There should be adequate teaching for everyone with diabetes. I guess in a fairey tale world it would be so. So, the alternative is to look for and find the group on line that can meet our needs. I hope this is the site you need. I am happy you are also at the other site, it also is not strictly recipes, but a family leading and guiding each other to better health. So, my first question to you is, how high are the highs you are so worried about? Also, is this 2 hour after eting? Do you know your HBA1c reading? It is a blood test that is done every three months and provides the average number for the previous three months. It is a vital number to diabetics. If yours is below 7, you are not doing as badly as seem to think. Are you also attempting weight loss now? If so, a small loss, even 10% of your weight will bring about a good change in your BG's. Salad is lovely, I love it, but is not adequate food intake. You need a balance to have a healthy body. Carbs are important for your brain to function to it's capacity. Protein is also importand. Peanut butter is full o protein, but has a ratio of fat you may wish to buy a RF SF peanutbutter. Also, if you have a blend of protein, fat and carbs at the same time, there is less impact on your BG's. Ask questions, we wish to help you ;-) Hugs, Marilyn Marilyn Moderator for Diabetic_Recipes dnevessr@... Opinions expressed are solely my own and should not be mistaken for Professional advice.
