Helen,

It depends on how high your sugar level is at the time. I have gone

in the ER and stayed for 6 hours and got it under control . I have

also gone in with sugar readings in excess of 900 and stayed on the

drip for 2 days. Then there was the coma and sugar readings over 1200

and spent over a week on the drip and 2 more weeks after that under

careful watch. It just depends on how bad things really can get.
