Guest guest
Don't know if any of you remember me but I was going to try aggressive repositioning on my 6 month old son and if nothing improved I was going to see a specialist. Well a month has past... and his flat spot is improving! It really is! His head, according to my measurement, has grown a 1/4 inch this last month. Both sides of his head, especially the flat side seem fuller. The top view still shows a diffence but it looks a little better then before so I think the repositioning is working. I took pictures too to make sure I wasn't just telling myself it looked better to please myself. The pictures show a difference. It has especially changed in this last week and a half. Now I have to say my son seems to have a mild case when I compare him to the pics on this website. So if your child has a severe case I probably would try to see a specialist to see where you stand. I have been doing aggressive repo, which someone here told me I had to be relentless about. AND I have been. It is not easy, for anyone thinking of trying. One night I slept 6 hrs straight but otherwise I am up every couple hrs (once in awhile every hr for a few hrs) checking his position. Sometimes he's still on his side and sometimes I have to adjust him. It's getting better as he gets use to it BUT it's A LOT of work and a person has to be consistant. So if anyone wants to try this, you can't take it half way-you have to really push it. It is hard, I am tired as I write this but I feel good with the results so far:) I am a person who can function very well on little sleep so if you are a person who needs solid sleep then this might be too time consuming for you. I positon my son in 3 different positions to target regrowth in the right direction, that is why I have to be sure to adjust him. Some people sew something to the back side of their baby's sleeper or tuck a rolled receiving blanket under their shoulder. This didn't work for my son when he was 3 months old and does not work now. I have a small pillow I put behind his back to help keep him on his side/or half side but he could easily roll over it or turn his head. He doen't turn his head but sometimes rolls over flat on his back, so that's why I check him every few hrs. I keep going on about this because I want people to understand that if you are going to try this you need to do what it takes to keep your child in the positions that will allow regrowth in the right areas. Play around and try a few things. I will update you in another month! Wish me luck:)
