Hi there, this is another person from Ohio (southern, Cincinnati area). *smile*I feel for you, and all that you must be going through right now. I understand how freaked out you must be, but the good news is that you have a pro-active pediatrician. Often the Lamboid Suture fused can mimic posterier plagiocephaly. (http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/520047_6 ) It is best to have the CT scan or other evaluation technique to rule it out. Make sure some sort of imaging is used, x-rays don't always give the best information. It's true that most forms of craniosynostis are rare, but it's best to make sure.My son was born with a head shape that mimicked sagittal craniosynostosis (long and narrow) and we had to have CT scan and x-rays when he was 2 weeks old. He did not have the fused sutures -- and so, we did end up using a molding device that, at the ti

me, was the only company who offered them for that particular head shape. He wore the DOCband from Cranial Technologies in 2000 from the end of June until October -- it came off a couple weeks before his 1st b-day.I would suggest you going to the Craniosynostosis and Positional Plagiocephaly website and message boards if there are not a lot of people who have had your experience. You have to join to ask questions, but there will be others who will be able to help you -- and there are a lot of great people here to help, too! You aren't alone. http://www.cappskids.org/ (my son's brief bio with a few pix is athttp://www.cappskids.org/CAPPSPlagioKidQuinn.htm )Take care...mom to Quinn, born 11/99, DOCband grad for 10/00>------- Original Message ------->F

Freaked out father here, and I am looking for someinsight on what has become the biggest issue in my life right now.My six month old son just went for his 6 month wellness. After measuring his skull and double checking the chart, the docdeclares that his head hasn't grown since the last visit. Afterfeeling around a little bit he states that he thinks 's skullplates may have fused early and that he may have Craniosynostosis.Looking at some of the example I have found online it looks likeposterior plagiocephaly. went for his head xray today and weshould have the results tomorrow. So, my quest

ion is this. Has anyone in the group had this issue withtheir child? It looks to me like the only option is surgery. Is thatthe case? What is the recovery time like? I am located in central Ohioso if there are any locals with some doc suggestions, that would beappreciated too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! For more plagio info
